We booked this restaurant through Groupon, before going i read the reviews of the restaurant and must say that i were not looking forward to going after reading them, but you know what as the saying go "in for a penny in for a pound". People we had a fabulous time the food and service were just great Jimmy and his team could not do enough for us, they were so attentive and accomodating they made us feel very special always checkig to see if all were ok on this on a very busy saturday night. Just don`t believe what those negative moaners go and make up your own mind.

I've never been so shabbily treated in my life. I had a Groupon voucher, had extras on top of what it entitled me to so paid an exta £30 on top and was then treated like a 2nd class citizen when the voucher came out. The Maitre'Ds attitude towards me was appalling. I had to argue to get my voucher accepted as I had 'not mentioned it when booking'. Why? Would have I have been served up inferior food? What was the problem? Having had undeniably, lovely food in a lovely setting, it was totally soured by the way I was treated in the end. Such a shame. I would most certainly have gone back and would have been happy to recommend the restaurant to others, but not now. Certainly not now!

Great little find in the north end of W11. Newly opened and need an extra waiter as the charming Jimmy is run off his feet but the quality of the french-inspired food offering more than compensates. Simple ingredients, executed well. Short but affordable wine list. Good value and pleasant ambience (inside anyway) too. Deserves to do well and clearly building a word of mouth reputation.

What a good place. Good food. Good staff. Not pretentious! We've been there for lunch last week and i'm really happy this place is not far from work. I went there with a couple of colleagues and we've been late to go back to work. Couldn't resist to have a desert and a coffee after lunch. We had a couple of 'plats du jour', steak and sole. So amazing! So tasty! and so funny! i'm glad there is still some places in London run by independant people who know how to cook! Will definitely be back next time for lunch!

Fantastic venue. Admittedly portobello road in the dark is far from palatial however once inside you forget the outside. Great decor and background music. The waiter was attentive and charming. The menu may be limited but wow... The wild boar is to die for. I would recommend this to anyone who wants good quality food. Although booked through groupon with a voucher we opted for extra wine and a third course which was just as well, as the dessert was the best I've ever had! Worth every penny! Definitely worth another visit.

Lovely story about the Goode & Wright sign - one of the original signs from the 1920s. From the outside this bistro has a rather intimidating, off putting and unwelcoming appearance. Closer inspection shows a place where alot of attention has been put into the decor - great tiled floor (for a kitchen) and beautiful pannelled walls (for a library) - just not with the end result of a warm and welcoming bistro. The menu however does inspire a visit, although slim it is v. well priced in an area where there is high competition. The food was not outstanding but we could not fault the attention and warmness of the service. Nice touch to be able to order 500 ml carafes of wine. Having inadvertently ordered a carafe of house wine that we thought would be lemony, citrusy and dry it turned out to be v. fruity and completely unacceptable to our palates. The wine was exchanged w/o the bat of an eyelash and we were rewarded with the last bottle of a very nice crisp wine that we never found out the name of but we were given the bottle for the price of a carafe. It may have been our inattention to detail that caused the original problem or the description on the menu but either which way the way the problem was address was immpecable. V. much looking fwd to going back for comprehensive breakfast served from 10-4pm.
