Good points: fascinating and tastey food with exceptional presentation and good value for money; a remarkable, if relatively expensive, wine list; extremely friendly, welcoming staff.
Less good: this restaurant is slow, give yourself plenty of time for your meal and you may have to pour your wine yourself.

Out of this world food, but a very long wait is how I would sum up Pearl. We booked a table for 2 on a Tuesday night at 7:30 and both chose the tasting menu, 4 courses and desert for £50 / head. The starters of salmon and anchovies, followed by crispy veal were exquisite, as was the first main course of turbot. However by the time the plates for the third course had left the table the time was 9:45, so long had the wait been for the food. When I inquired why the wait was so long between courses I was told by the waiter they were busy (the restaurant was half full!) and this was generally how tasting menus were served. The second answer was as ridiculous as the first given tasting menus at other high class establishments have been presented in half the time.
The fourth course of venison was again superb, an interesting combination of the meat accompanied with fruit, and the dessert followed suit.
All in all the food was incredibly good, the surroundings luxurious, however if you go here make sure you have nothing important planned for the next day. £150 (we had no wine), and 3 1/4 hours later we finally left.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal here last night, and loved everything about Pearl from the huge, almost sensuously beautiful room to the amazingly original food to the excellent service. Will definitely be coming back. Truly a pearl.

My partner and I booked Pearl for a special occasion last week. When we came away, we both agreed that this was one of the most memorable meals out we had ever had. My hat goes off to the incredible waiters and sommeliers who were knowledgable, attentive but not fussy, enthusiastic and obviously enjoy their surrounds. The food was nothing short of stunning, with all dishes (3 courses were ordered and 3 were complimentary!) of Michelin standard. The wine list is extensive, but we asked for guidance and were very happy with the choices offered. In short, I think that Pearl offers excellent value for money, and we will be returning!

Had a very special evening at Pearl on Saturday.
The waitress seemed to struggle with our request for a half bottle of champagne so after quite a wait, we settled for a very nice glass of champagne. We made our choices from the mouth watering menu and the very helpful sommelier made excellent selections for us from the mammoth wine list. Every dish was an experience. The only disappointment was the fact that my pork was very greasy (the menu didn't mention that it was cooked in duck fat and included belly pork). Next time, I shall ask more questions when ordering so I'm clear on what I'm getting as I had to leave much of the meat on the plate. Having said that, every other course was outstanding so it is unfair to let one misunderstanding spoil the impression that it was an excellent evening full of excellent food. Yes it was expensive, but it was a lovely and very special evening.

We recently went for lunch at Pearl and found it a great experience. The atmosphere was very good and the service was very good indeed. We started with the Champagne and foound the food to be excellent,. The taste combinations were unusual and worked.
The cheese trolley was fantastic. The knowledge of the staff was very good, informative and helped us make choices.
It was expensive but very enjoyable.

I've visited Pearl twice now and both times were fantastic.
The food is excellent, (the amuse bouches also made it extra special - they're a real treat)
There is an extensive wine list, the service is impeccable and the setting is beautiful. There is also live music which added to the ambience. We were given an upgrade to the private dining room - as it was for a birthday and the waiters went out of their way to make the experience a memorable one. Highly recommended!

Ate here last night. Service was impeccable from start to finish - friendly, knowledgeable and unintrusive. The food was also excellent and they have got the ambience of both bar and restaurant exactly right. Highly recommended.

Fantastic. We turned up with no booking on a Monday and had a wonderful experience. We had the £45 3 course menu, that was actually 7 courses once you included all the delicious amusee. Very friendly, attentive and unpretentious staff. No need for suit and tie, but it is nice to get a bit dressed up for such beautiful surroundings.
Ours was a romantic evening, but I will be taking my family very soon. Not a 'hotel' restaurant.
