Il Portico

We visted this restaurant last night, it was a cold wet night and when we walked past Il Portico it looked warm and very inviting. They were very busy but found us a table. We had a fabulous evening. The food was to a very high standard, and the service was friendly. We will definately visit the next time we visit London

With my partner we visit Il Portico at least twice on every visit to London every time we travel over from Ireland. We found this restaurant quite by accident via a colleague - we met at a conference in a nearby conference centre. The bottom line is that this eating establishment is a family run dining room which welcomes all folk who call at the door. The staff are professional and so accomodating even during our pre Christmas visit when the place was heavely pre-booked with office parties etc. Food is wonderful and we would particularly recommend the venue for lunch.

One of our all-time favourites, we've been coming to Il Portico over several years and it has never failed to impress us! You MUST try this restaurant, it is a perfect blend of genuinely fabulous Italian food and a cozy atmosphere...

The staff is wonderful, Francesca will be able to suggest the most succulent dishes ranging from pastas to fish and delicious meats.

My favourites are grilled prawn & calamari for starter, followed by a cotoletta alla milanese which is cooked to perfection.

Try out their zabaione for dessert and simply enjoy every minute!

This is the best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in London and excellent value for money, given the quality of the food and the service. The pasta dishes are particularly excellent and the quality of the wines means there's plenty to suit all pallets. Service is very good - staff are friendly, attentive and have detailed knowledge of the menu. Take your wife there. Take your family there. Take your clients there. Any way, you can't lose.

I have been here many a time, due to its close proximity to the girlfriend's place, and although I must agree that some dishes are mediocre, others are simply fantastic. The pasta is always perfectly cooked, the roast dishes are fantastic and the wines glorious.

This coupled with the lovely atmosphere, price and friendly staff has meant that we often find oursleves eating there.

They have always tried their best to accomodate us when they are full, and given the location - it really is a hidden gem.

If you want a more high-brow evening, then visit the Belvedere up the road. If you are looking for a relaxed, informal evening full of chat and laughter, I cannot recommend this place enough.

A welcome change to the generally overpriced restaurants in the area.

Food was okay, but not outstanding. Am not used to paying a 1.70 cover charge per person when I am ordering a two course dinner and a bottle of wine. I was not impressed.

Highly recommended restaurant that has the seal of approval from everyone who has ever eaten there with me. Do not miss this place - the fish and pasta dishes are especially sumptuous and the service fantastic.

My favourite restaurant in London - it's always a treat for me when I go back there and is something I look forward to after a hard day/week at work or life.

The food is delicious, atmosphere of a comfortableness, cosyness and homelyness that I've not experienced elsewhere so far, and the waiters are particularly attentive and personal. Lovely red wine (not to mention the limoncello!) and sumptuous desserts.

I tend to take special friends, loved ones and family there for these reasons and would highly recommend this to you too.

We come to Il Portico quite regularly. It was the first restaurant we went to when we moved into the area. The waiters already know us and occasionally we get a table even if it's completely full. My boy-friend spends hours chatting football to one of the waiters.

I find the place is very Italian and especially the staff is very attentive although occastionally a bit slow or forgetful. ; ) But it doesnt' bother us, it's part of the mentatility. ; )

The food is great, they do the best linguine ai frutti di mare and apparently the best steak. Try their desert trolley. I always go for brandy oranges with something else.

Their wines are also very good and the waiters can usually recommend something.

Overall, I very much enjoy dining there.

In my experience this is one of the few Italian places in London where one can eat Italian food - at an affordable price.

Very dedicated and attentive staff, cosy and familiar atmosphere. You immediately feel a "regular". Loved the shrimps in particular.
