The Salt House

It seems like the Salt House is reviewed by the owners themselves - 10 out of 10.

The battered cod has more oil than fish, chips are soggy. Please avoid.

This is one of the absolute best Pubs in London. You can get a great burger or a pitcher of PIMMS & Lemonade and no matter what you will have the quintessential English Gastro Pub experience but with exceptional food and service. This is a landmark for me in London.

I had dinner at the Salt House yesterday (Saturday 21st November).

The food was actually very good indeed. My starters of chicken livers was excellent, and my wife's scotch-duck egg was superb (she'd ahad a similar dish as Heston's Hind earlier in the week and said this was definitely better).

Mains of stuffed peasant breast with confit leg in a potato cake was the best game dish I've had this year.

Service was very good.

My only criticism is that the wine list seemed a bit short, and event then three of the wines I asked for were unavailable. Pricing of the wines was fair.

Been to the Salt House many times. I have a tendency to go on the less crowded nights and won't even bother walking in if people are streaming out the door.

Service is excellent, as is the selection of wines. The risotto was a bit undercooked once, but I will order again. Haven't tried it with the new kitchen staff yet, but am looking forward to it.

I've been in the private room before for a dinner/drinks with a large group and have been very impressed.
