Zakudia

I just came back from Zakudia for lunch with 6 of my work colleagues (totalling 7 diners). Or rather, I should say only 5 of us had lunch. 1 of us ordered the curry special and 6 of us ordered the burger special. The curry came out pretty quickly and was finished by the time the burgers came - but only 4 of the burgers were served. The remaining two were kept waiting and after numerous follow-ups were promised their food in "5 minutes" but by that time the rest of us had finished eating and we had been there over an hour already so they could no longer wait (also due to scheduled appointments) so we left. We did not receive an apology or anything - when we asked for the bill, the manager came to clarify what we actually did eat and simply stated "that's fair enough". And to add insult to injury, they then added a 12.5% service charge. I don't think so.

Another top night at Zakudia yesterday evening and a quiet day at work today reminded me to check out london-eating today to see whether the rest of the world agrees with my fondness for this place! Glad to see that almost everyone does agree, but was surprised enough at the review below to add my penny's worth or two! Location and views are indeed superb, and cocktails match the location in my opinion. Maybe such a diverse list will mean the more adventurous mixes don't appeal to all pallets but the classics are done classically well and that's a pretty objective marker! In contrast to the experience below, the service though is what has consistently stood out with staff that have without exception had an informal and friendly and attentive manner on the several occasions I've been. Can only think someone had a lot on their mind that night and that happens to the best of us! Food is almost impossible to choose because you want everything on the menu and fantastic value too. Given how busy it was for a Wednesday night, I reckon a few more a catching on to this place too!

The river views are the best thing about this bar. The long cocktail list is promising but the coctails are only ok and the food/service are appalling. They were out of what we ordered but didn't tell us -- they just changed it, took 30 mins to bring it and shrugged when we asked about it. Food we did get was very poor. Manager was completely indifferent, offered no apology and made no attempt to rectify. Still included 12.5% service charge on the bill though which was not optional. This is a real shame as location is excellent. Wouldn't go again because of service and definitely wouldn't eat there.

I visted Zakudia on Saturday evening with a group of friends. We had reserved a seating area, which was perfect. The view looking out over the river was wonderful and the service was faultless. Staff were pleasant and very welcoming. The food & drink were excellent - quite reasonably priced. It was a perfect end to a day of celebrations! I had no idea that this place existed, and will definately come again.
