Wonderful food, catastrophic service ! We went at lunchtime, when two waiters were attempting to cope alone with all the diners. On a blazing hot day, no cocktails ("sorry, we haven't anyone here who knows how to make them"), no ice ("sorry we've run out and we haven't got anyone free to get more") etc etc. Very tasty food though and fun atmosphere. Just don't expect to be looked after very professionally....

The mis-spelling of "Hydraulic" might be a clue. We were "greeted" (sic) on Friday night, 28th July, by a surly "Well?", from a dubious-looking middle-aged woman in a Mother Hubbard. On our considering the hilariously over-priced wine list (all Australian, if you please: not any other country's wines, even among the pretentiously-named "Fine Wines") the DLMAWIAMH appeared again and confronted my friend (a teacher of wine appreciation, just by the way - although we were only there to eat and drink: not to have an argument with the staff) with a "What's the matter? Don't you like Australian wine?" Things went downhill after that. The DLW (etc) had her not inconsiderable back to me, so I could not swear that her face was contorted in a mask of patriotic fury at my friend's declining to have a bottle of Australian Riesling (I'm not making this up); but the hectoring tone of voice ("If you want french wine, you can go over the road...There's an Italian restaurant down the road..[etc]") indicated to me that the DLW had missed some chapters in her home learning customer care course. I got up to leave, just as the DLW said to my friend that we ought to do so: I think that she just beat us to the punch. I'll be looking into the identity of the licensees and date of their licence renewal. Anyone wanting further info (I've been preternaturally restrained so far) before hazarding this (rather curious) place can contact me on mf2cd1@hotmail.com. Shame the voting panel only goes down to 0

It is a joy to speak to people who are passionate about the place in which they work and our host last night was just so. Having dinner when you feel you have been let in to a secret is envigorating. I can thoroughly recommend visiting the gallery betwen courses as we did. The food was great, very competent and well cooked although perhaps not as adventurous as the setting would suggest.

i will definitely be going back - perhaps for one of their summer outdoors movie screenings.

I've been to many expensive and Michelin starred restaurants in London and though Wapping Food is neither, it is resolutely my favourite. My partner and I have been at least 6 times and every time has been a treat. Seasonal produce is cooked to perfection and the wine list is terrific. The service is faultless and friendly, the staff are knowledgeable and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. The old power station is a wonderful space and blend of the old and new; bright, sleek tables and chairs are dotted around the original machinery, the bar is lit by pink neon and candles perch on ledges. The opportunity to wander next door and view the latest installation in the gallery is yet another bonus. Worth crosssing town for.

Had an excellent dinner last night. Arrived at 7pm to find the place already buzzing - not bad for a Tuesday night! Efficient, friendly service. Food was excellent. The menu is limited but what is one there is very good quality.

We had a great time.

Had the pleasure of going to the Wapping Project for lunch today with some colleagues. Had a great meal, service was excellent, really different surroundings. It was a bit lacking in atmosphere, but it was quite quiet. Will definitely return for the scallops!

I live in Wapping and had been really excited when the Wapping Project opened, only to be disappointed (for all the reasons on the old reviews) . I went last week for the first time in 2 years - imagine my delight at having one of the best meals I've had in London in some time. We had steaks as soft as butter with fluffy gorgeous mash and a generous order of veg. They have improved the ambience with some huge stunning chandeliers, which contrast with the industrial space, and the service was absolutely fine - if not outstanding. The place is now full, which must mean that people are noticing the improved food! Definitely worth a second try if you wrote it off before.

Last night I ate at the Wapping project with a party of 4. The service was amazing, friendly witty and charming; efficient but not obtrusive. The food was amazing. The wine selection was extensive. I was very impressed and also found the art installations an interesting talking point which added to our enjoyment of the evening. A brilliant night, just wish that I lived nearer, but well worth the journey there.

I have been to the Wapping project on a number of occasions and each time I have enjoyed myself. Its not just the food, which is excellent, but also looking at the art installations which are always first rate.

I had Sweet Meats which were excellent. When it gets busy the place has a great buzz and you really enjoy the whole eating experience
