Little Bay (Belsize Rd)

We went there yesterday, such a busy place, we didn't have a booking, but the manager still managed to get us a balcony table that we asked for.
The food was great, the Butterfish dish was a surprising good (it is one of the more expensive dishes at £10.75), the sauce went really well with the fish. The halal beef goulash was pretty good as well.
We will definitely go there again!

We'd not been to the Little Bay for some years and were alarmed to read the recent negative review. We were pleasantly surprised. The Little Bay still serves excellent, inventive food in quirky, talking point surroundings, with very pleasant and efficient staff. 4 of us had a table in the 'conservatory' and sat in a sort of low ceilinged wooden room, reminiscent of a church confessional - really quaint and interesting. The desserts are to die for! A wonderful 3 course meal for £15 to £20. I strongly recommend The Little Bay to you.

As usual with this chain, the food and atmosphere is amazing. Just how they do it for the price I don't know, its clearly a winning formula however as the place is always full. With a starter each, two main courses and a couple of drinks the bill came to £35 quid.

I first ate at Little Bay (Belsize Rd) roughly 15/16 years ago.
The prices are great, the surroundings are great(as long as you aren't a cleaner for a living & notice every little bit of dirt...pretty grubby..never been there once without my arms sticking to the table!)THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC. Pigs cheeks are a favourite of mine. Never once found the staff rude.Have turned up late once...but manager was ok. Waitresses are ALWAYS incredibly polite.Brown & White breads are always free & brought to you while you are waiting for your meal. Never had to wait long in between courses. Never managed a desert once as always too stuffed to bursting point after starter & main. Booze IS expensive but,no more so than your average inexpensive restaurant.(They have to make their money somewhere.) The "upstairs" cubicles DO become very stuffy & warm...but,hey...they're fun...& think...Whatever weight you would normally put on by eating such a lovely meal....you'll lose by the time the manager is opening the door for you & bidding you goodnight on your way out!!

While staying at a hotel in the neighborhood, my 10 year old daughter and I ventured into Little Bay. It was cozy, with lots of atmosphere. We really enjoyed the selections and the staff was very attentive. I would definitely recommend the lamb. Great place for kids.

I have been to this restaurant twice now. Both times I had fish whilst my friend had a meat dish.
Both times I did find the starters were a bit too oily. The main course of fish was absolutely delicious. I had salmon the first time and cod the second time. I didn't particularly like my friends chicken breast or the steak which I found too dry. The chips also aren't particularly good.
If you love fish are are looking for a cheap eat then this is the place to go but if I were to go again then I wouldn't get anything else from the menu.

If you're judging a restaurant solely on the quality of the food and value for money then Little Bay would score very highly. Unfortunately it has a couple of big issues that really let it down.
The food itself is well executed, tasty and very cheap. We ate here recently with 3 adults and 2 kids – and two courses plus two bottles of wine came to only £80.
The food is mainly French influenced with a good selection of seafood and vegetarian options. Starters of Crab with Avocado Salsa, Parson’s Pastry (Filo pastry filled with Smoked Chicken in a Tomato sauce) and Moules Mariniere were excellent. Rib eye steak and duck for mains were good but over sauced.
The main reason that we didn’t stay for desert is that we were sat in one of the funky looking upstairs alcoves. What looks like a great novelty idea, especially if you’ve got kids with you, ruined the meal as it gets unbearably hot up there. Only when we asked to be moved did they turn the air conditioning on which made it slightly less uncomfortable.
Only after getting the bill did were we told that they don’t take cards – it’s cash or cheque only. This was rather embarrassing and resulted in an unexpected trip to Kilburn High Road to get some cash out. Putting a notice on the window alerting customers to this would have saved a lot of hassle.
So in summary, decent cheap meal if you’re in the area – just don’t sit upstairs and bring cash.

What can I say, this restaurant HAS TO BE the best restaurant I have been to in London for the longest time. The food is incredible, great value for money and the way it is presented is excellent. I have never managed to eat a 3 course meal because by the time I have finished my main course I am too full up to eat a dessert, however because the food is so so nice I always manage to squeeze a dessert in.
The atmosphere is also good and the service is excellent too. I have been there with many friends and am taking family there for the first time next week, I cannot wait and i'm sure they will enjoy it just as much as I have.
My favourite starter is the mussels - absolutely delicious, especially with the bread and butter that they put on your table as standard. What more can you ask for.
My favourite main course has to be either the seabass or the salmon but in my opinion any dish I have had there has been very very nice.
I would recommend this restaurant to ANYONE!!!!

Brilliant value for money and truely magnificent tasting food!! I love it and it is one of my regular trips twice a month. You can not go wrong. Decor is great and cute. If you reserve remember to ask for one of the upsstairs coves. It is oh so sweet!!!!Please remembr that it gets hot when sitting in these coves so make sure you have layers you can take off.Whether you go for a lunch, dinner, with a friend or a partner or even for a date it is well worth it!!! Very friendly people.
