Extremely disappointing. Goat's cheese thickly crusted in nuts was unpleasant, and for a man who's favourite food is steak, this was the worst I'd ever had - fatty, unattractive and served with hard poorly-cooked cheap potatoes. My partner's food didn't look much better. Points for quick service, decent atmosphere, and fairly low price (though you don't even 'get what you pay for'!) but even the table service needs improvement. Don't go here just because it's close to the Eye, there must be much better options near-by.

Delicious!!
Would definately recommend the steak, washed down with a glass of wonderful white wine.
Will definately be going back again, was a perfect end to a perfect evening!

Huge disappointment. Awful food, mediocre wine, BUT friendly serving staff. No atmosphere at all. Will not be returning.

I went to Loco Mensa this evening with my family and friends and was so glad i went. We were served by a spanish waitress whom helped us choose a fantastic bottle of Viognier wile we waited for our other guests.
When we were seated the specials were pointed out to us and we took the recommendations from our waitress. The food was very good as we expected from the srvice which we received. We felt we were looked after very well throughout the evening as if we were royalty. We will definately be back to vist again. Many thanks to all the staff. The manager should be proud of this brilliant restaurant.

I took my wife & daughter to have lunch here & was disappointed. Had a light starter of focaccia bread & olives - no complaints. Main course of squid ink pasta with crab was extremely average & at nearly £13 a time represented a rip off. The service was poor - my daughter was brought the wrong pasta, although I note that the service charge is not discretionary!
We had pear with almond stuffing for dessert - tasteless!
To be fair, the espresso is good.
However the toilets were filthy.
All in all, very disappointing. I don't believe I would eat here again if it was free.

I popped out for a quick bit to eat when I finished work and found myself at Loco mensa, near Waterloo. After reading some comments I'm surprised as I found the quality of the food and service exemplary, for mains I had the Seabass from the main menu this i found to be perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful, sadly as I was pressed for time and couldn't manage a desert. When I recieved my cheque I was told that I had 25% off my total as this was a September promotion they were running which made it even more exceptional value for money. I have and will be recommending loco mensa to all my friends.

I had the embarassment of taking foreign guests to the restaurant following our trip on the London Eye. Restaurants are in short supply in the County Hall area, but that is no excuse for poor food and poor service.
Our waiter barely spoke English and struggled with the most basic order (can we share a plate of antipasto?) The focaccia we ordered was raw dough in the centre, he had no idea what we were saying when we sent it back. When were eventually provided with replacements the were also uncooked.
The main courses were extremely average, we would have made nicer dishes ourselves at home. As below, all food had been sitting under heat lamps too long, despite there being no more than 5 tables full. My squid ink pasta with crab was dry and tasted like a jar of sauce mixed with a tin of crab.
The biggest insult is the price of the food. For the same amount, go to Carluccio's, where you know the food is going to be amazing.

I decided to go to loco for my anniversary as this was recommended by friends. We were greeted upon arrival by a young man smiling. We were not sure about the wine list and were given a few suggestions by our waiter, and we took up the recommendation of the Marlborough Sauvignon. A great choice. After ordering we received our starters. The Bresaola with rocket and parmesan and the Roasted goats cheese on spinach. The flavour of the parmesan together with the bresaola was full of flavour not too strong and the goat’s cheese was creamy and went well with the walnut coating. When our main courses arrived we were overwhelmed with the portions. We opted for the seafood fettuccini and sea bass with salad. The fettuccini was a good choice with the chunky pieces of seafood. There was on over powering flavour. The light chilli tang complimented it well. The sea bass for my partner was cooked to perfection which made the fish flaky and soft. Together with the fennel salad was well complimented.
We decided on a breather before ordering desserts. Upon ordering our desserts and coffee we were told about the special with peaches and almond stuffing what a fantastic combination. The richness of the almonds together with the juices of the peaches was delightful. A definite must have. After finishing our dessert we opted to leave and were stunned with all the good byes from all the staff. I will be returning.
