Thanks very much for a disastrous event. We had booked in advance, were shown to a table,I lit up, we were given menus, HALF WAY THROUGH MY CIG I was told that it was a non-smoking restaurant.!!!!!!!! No problem come July 1. This despite the provision at the table of an ashtray as well as a Viva Viva matchbook and ashtrays on other tables.

SHAME ON YOU!!

Went to Viva-viva last night and had a fantastic time. Didn't eat as got there late but the atmosphere was brilliant. The live samba band were great - people walking past were stopping, having a bit of a boogie on the pavement then coming in. We saw 4 or 5 separate groups do this! The DJ afterwards was good fun too and there were still lots of people dancing when we left at 2:00am.

The two drinks we were originally planning on turned into very foggy heads this morning!

Sounds like the review below came from the restaurant who didn't get their restaurant reviewed. Far too spiteful! Anyway, just to tell you we had a lovely time at viva viva. We went along to see if the place was as good as time out's review titled 'viva viva - west end self-styled oasis' and I'm glad to report they were spot on.

The food and service was excellent and staff were a nice bunch. But the only bad thing we can say is it was just too full but was told they are just about to expand.

Truely awful food - 3 of us ordered different meals and they were all dreadful. Reheated veg and potatoes that appeared to have been sitting around for a couple of days, half of which were cold and soggy. My steak was like rubber and the oil it was cooked in tasted off. My girlfriend had completely tasteless salmon - absolutely no taste at all, none! my mate has a rubberised pepersteak. The only plus poins were the friendly waitress and the music - otherwise avoid

We meant to go to the restaurant two doors from viva viva and purely by mistake came here, and what a bit of good fortune too!

As there were four of us with three vegetarians, we were a bit concerned as Spanish restaurants are normally very meat orientated but this place had everything, including fab music.

We work for a food spy company and our job is to go out and check on the standard of food, drinks, service!

Just to tell you viva viva, you got top marks from all of us.

If you like something unique with charm, character and delicious food and drinks, take it from the experts - it doesn't get much better than this place!

The food is mediocre (bar the squid rings which were good) and the service was poor but the flamenco music and atmosphere was excellent so we had an good night there yesterday.

Went there last Sunday for dinner with my partner and we both absolutly loved it!

Food was lovely as were the staff. Fantastic choice of drinks and entertainment. Heard great things about the place before we went and it lived up to it.

I liked the fact that there were people of all ages in there from teenagers to middle age.

I cant wait to go again would love to try a friday or saturday night. Would definatley recomend it to anyone. Kalamari was amazing!

I ate there with my family on Sunday [20/08]. This was quite easily the worst restaurant meal I have had in my life.

It was utter rubbish from start to it's premature finish.

The waitress couldn't understand English, the seafood salad was a few bits of fish, the patatas bravas was the blandest I have ever had, the food was all lukewarm, the wrong order came, we waited an hour for the food that claimed to be tapas.

The venue felt more like a cheap lap-dancing club than a restaurant and they didn't even wait for my son to finish his milkshake (incorrectly priced at £3.50 even though it was supposed to be a kids' shake) - taking it away, even though it was one of the only things that seemed quite nice, before he'd finished.

Put simply, this was a disgrace.

My boyfriend and I went to Viva Viva for brunch today and safe to say, we won't be rushing back.

The first table we were shown to was filthy and we had to move to another, which was fine. Some fifteen minutes later, a waitress came to ask us for a drinks order. I had to repeat the words 'Filter Coffee' four times before she understood what I meant. She then dashed off without asking my boyfriend what he wanted. We then heard her say 'two coffees' to a colleague. Errr...Twenty minutes later there was no sign of the drinks and we were getting rather thirsty! A waiter eventually appeared and asked us what we would like to drink. Some sort of communication breakdown methinks.

Despite the place being empty, food took a good half an hour to arrive, which seemed rather excessive given that we'd ordered a salmon and cream cheese bagel and a croque monsieur. Both were perfectly ok, although pretty small. The second my boyfriend put his fork down, his plate was whisked away.

The food was acceptable but totally overshadowed by the laughably incompetent service.

Avoid.
