I ate at Sema Thai on Friday and have eaten there a few times before and i have to say i have never been dissapointed with the food. Always great tasting food and fresh. I have been to Thailand a few times and this is the closest ive eaten to "proper" authentic Thai food. The food can take a little too long but i suppose it was pretty busy in there and I had a 4 other people with me and it was very busy, but i didnt mind too much, and the waitress did come to me and apologise and say the food wouldn't be too long which is always nice!

My favourite dish is the Pad Thai but i guess thats everyones favourite! but i guess If i wanted to treat myself i would choose the fish in chilli sauce, it is amazing and looks it too, I had it on friday with my friends and WOW! everyone loved it.

Overall its a great local restaurant which I hope to come regularly, its not too expensive and the food is amazing. The decor isnt bad and is pretty comfortable, I love their fish tank! I always try and get a table near it :)

I would definitely recommend Sema Thai to my friends

I've been living the area for 6 years and probably eaten here a thousand times! This enables me to give an informed opinion of the place rather than a one-off snap shot. The place is located in the heart of Lordship Lane opposite the supermarket and next door to the opticians. The restaurant is set over one floor and has a contemporary feel with flashes of Thai culture. The business is family run with the mum heading up the kitchen and daughter managing the floor. In terms of the food my absolute favorite is the chicken satay, money bags and stuffed chicken wings. I can safely say nothing here is removed from a bag and just deep fried. For the main course I always opt for the Pad Thai with prawns or chicken. All my dishes are always beautifully presented and even the salad is cut into shapes testament to the attention to detail. Service is always attentive and friendly. Finally the central fish tank is always a great talking point - I'm always looking for new additions! This is the real deal Thai in the area and a must visit.

I'm wondering if the people who are describing the fresh food here are actually talking about the same restaurant, because if they are, I can't quite believe it.

I would actually go as far as to say this is the least fresh food I've ever had in a restaurant, ever. My partner ordered thai fishcakes for a starter and they appeared within about 3 minutes of ordering looking like some kind of greasy dog treat. The fish, if it was fish, was processed, and they were chewy, rubbery and greasy. He asked if he could pick something else, and opted for the dumplings, which again arrived within a couple of minutes (freshly prepared...really?). They too were filled with stodgy processed meat (apparently pork), and were thick and horrible. Again, sent them back as they were inedible.

The mains were a little better, or at least edible, but by no means fresh. The rice had definitely been reheated and was hard, and the flavours were just about there but nothing better than a basic supermarket green curry sauce.

On a positive note, our waitress was lovely, but I wouldn't go back there if I was starving.

The food here is shocking. Not authentic to Thailand or anywhere for that matter. Bad service too. Avoid.

I live locally and have been to this restaurant many times - both for the £10 lunch and in the evening. The food is always fabulous - freshly cooked and delicious. Would recommend highly.

This restaurant serves the best Thai food I have ever tasted. I have been to this restaurant plenty of times solo and with friends and always found the serving staff really great, friendlyand competent, knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Very very good.

Its one of my all time great places to eat, also the owner and his wife are very friendly and will talk to you but the best waitress in the evening is a Polish girl called Karolina.
