our review
Ex-Cinnamon Club MD, Rohit Chugh, has opened his first solo venture - Roti Chai Indian Street Kitchen - between Bond Street and Marble Arch. The restaurant is open from noon until late serving traditional Indian chai and street food snacks like chicken lollipops, papri chaat and seafood rasam. Don't miss the bun kebab, which our sources describe as a 'gloriously messy, spicy lamb chapli patty, popping with spices and a lick of tamarind.'

Really enjoyed Roti Chai with a big group of friends - all the dishes were for sharing so perfect for us. The cocktail we had (a lychee bellini) was excellent and went down a charm, The bun tikki is also a highlight - it's like a perfect burger (lamb, not beef) with indian spice, really moreish. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves indian food but wants to try something new and different to the normal indian fare you get in London.

Excellent food, wine, service and ambience.
Unusually price was same as quoted on web site.
Charming owner keeping his eye on things.
Well worth a visit, will be going back to try the fine dining downstairs as it looks great.

The food at Roti Chai is good, and very flavoursome, but the portions are sooooo SMALL!!! For the price anyway... £5.20 for a tiny amount of paneer with mostly salad is very expensive. We ordered a meal each but when the portions were brought out we had to order more as there wasn't enough to go around.
Can't really fault the taste of the food, I enjoyed everything. the chai was nice but just warm, not hot enough for my liking. The bun kebab was very tasty but again, very small! £7.50 for a mini burger is not good value in my opinion.
The puddings are extortionate at £6.50 for a small chocolate tart. I ate in Langan's last week and paid £4.75 for a similar dish - and that's a posh restaurant.
I've heard similar reviews about Roti Chai. It seems to be a bit of a tourist fad at the moment which everyone is trying out. But if they want to succeed they need to offer better value for money.
Service was passable, nothing special. And they added a 12.5% service charge onto the bill! We left feeling quite unsatisfied really...

Visited with a gang of friends, all of whom were delighted with this new find. All the dishes were seriously tasty. I especially loved the lamb kebab, veg samosa and chilli paneer, not forgetting a delicious chai. Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere and location great. Would really recommend.

Lunch for two with a friend quite early on a Saturday afternoon. Busier than I expected but still had a relaxed feel to it.
Loved the décor, loved the food, loved the service and loved the price. Fantastic!
Some of the food is hot so if the menu says its fiery then it really is fiery.
You can’t go wrong with Chicken but it’s hard to excel with a chicken dish. The chef excelled with the Chicken Lollipops. They were so great I had to find room for a second helping. My other new found favourite is the hot vegetarian Hakka Chilli Paneer.
I will definitely be back with some friends.

Went to this restaurant last night for the second time last night and in the most part enjoyed it. It has a similar style to a canteen and quite basic wooden tables. Quite a relaxed feel to the place!
The food was delicious. I brought my wife and couple of friends and we all remarked how tasty in particular the chicken lollipops and bhel puri were. Very good quality food and compliments to the chef.
Service was good, the waitors and waitresses were friendly and knew their stuff. My only comment was that it took us a little by surprise and the tables around us a couple of things the guy I presume was the manager said to some staff members that I consider would be classed as unprofessional. I can't recall exactly what was said but it made the atmosphere a little awkward as they were clearly upset. This awkwardness seemed to be the general feel of the restaurant shortly after. Nonetheless, the general atmosphere was welcoming and we had a good time. The food was great and I'd recommend the cocktails- some nice stuff there.

Brilliant! You know when your heart starts racing when the food arrives on the table that there is something special about it - The room had a great buzz but is obviously awaiting little finishing touches. The Chicken Farzi (?) was off the charts - I crave deep fried chicken but generally feel its a bit wrong - not this one, soooo right and delicious - We all moan when a place is bad so to find the energy to write when a place is good must be a good sign....I'm coming back for some more excitement!

After just one visit I'm sure Roti Chai will become my new favourite place to lunch. With it's bright, fresh yet still warming decor you feel welcome as soon as you set foot inside.
The service was quick and the young lady who served me was more than helpful, letting me know how the menu worked and suggesting which dishes to try. When I inquired about the brand and the Roti Chai venture I was told about owner Rohit who has poured endless passion into this project - which shows! And was pleasantly surprised to discover he was actually in the corner lunching with some friends and sampling dishes. If you forgive me for judging a book by it's cover I was taken back by how down to earth he came accros and it was nice to see his involvement in his restaurant is definitely an investment of the heart.
The food was light and tasty. I tried the Papri Chat (creamy yogurt, potato and little crackers) which I have to say was my favourite and also the chilli paneer (firey and warm) and chicken farcha (breaded, marinated chicken strips with a curry dipping sauce).
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and am now just waiting for an opportunity to bring some friends or my partner there to do the whole "look what I found" thing and show off the wonderful Roti Chai before it explodes with popularity!
