I absolutely love this place. Used to go there weekly when we lived in London. Back on a four day visit from Singapore 7 years later and I'll be taking hubby there for his birthday dinner tomorrow. Thanks to Joy for being so genuine. She came to our wedding by the way.

I couldn't disagree more with the below review. This is simply the BEST restaurant I have ever been too.
Having arrived late (an one short), Joy (FYI a bit of a hotty), was so very pleased to see us and introduced herself formally by shaking our hands upon entrance. You NEVER get that level of personal service in restaurants nowadays.
In tow, we had brought with us a small amoury of booz and were able to create a mini (large) bar at the end of our table. As we settled into our session, the first round of starters came pretty promptly. I have no idea what on earth it was that came out of the kitchen, but if you dipped it in her famous satay sauce, It felt like you had been whisked off to Thailand for the night. A couple in the corner (drinking Fosters) were taking full adavantage of the romantic setting in this way. Main courses were of a similar nature, and there was enough egg fried rice and noodle to sink a battleship.
We declined pudding, because we wanted to save room for the Jin (some sort of Thai after shot from the bar). We knew it as Gordon's. In rude health, we allowed to sing songs and games as if we were in our own home. It was unfortunate that after the 3rd game of "pussaay" (local game from Cornwall) we were shortly asked to leave. It was understandable, as I think we might have overdone it and created new levels of decibel.
As we left, Joy was an absolute trooper. I would have no hesitations about going back and will be recommending.

I have to say that this is THE WORST restaurant I have ever been to. Its simply disgusting in every possible sense. Where to start? First off, the restaurant isn't clean. Its quite filthy in fact, from beer bottles caps and all other forms of litter on the floor to a layer of grease that seems to coat the entire place. Further, the thai food is bland and made with poor quality ingredients (meat that looks like its seen much better days). To top if off, I must agree with the other review, that the owner is really disturbing. Without me provoking in anyway I am aware of she yelled at me and my husband. Really??? I don't even know the lady, and there were children present. I think it goes without saying I won't be going back. If you want good thai on Munster road I'd recommend Mudmee or there's great Italian Ciccia Pizza nearby too. In all cases, I would avoid cafe 209.

I love this place and go back often as I am lucky enough to have it on my door step. The food is fabulous and great value. The lady that runs it is like a weird reincarnated Basil Fawlty, meaning you will have a very interesting and entertaining evening (should it not be her night off). I often leave howling with laughter as a result of her banter. The rest of the family are sweet and accomodating meaning that service is also very good.
The only people that should avoid this place are those with no sense of humour, and no experience of proper authentic Thai food.

I am somewhat amazed after reading the other reviews about this restaurant. My experience here was probably the worst I have ever had at any restaurant, ever!
Regardless of the food (which was mediocre thai) the experience was somewhat frightening. The owner is rude, loud, crude and insulting. We felt very uncomfortable and could'nt wait to get out. Clearly, the owner puts on her 'cabaret' performance every evening - very disturbing!

Six of us went to this Cafe last night and had an incredibly good time. This was more than eating out - it was an experience. The owner is 'insane' in the best possible way: very funny, hugely engaging and entertaining. We all agreed that this was one of the best nights out at a restaurant in years. Don't expect quiet and intimate - this place is loud, fun and the food was very good. We will go back in a hurry!

Went with 5 friends for dinner last night. Joy was on great form and the food was brilliant. Wonderful flavours. Not too spicy (which suited 2 of our party) but 3 different dishes of chilli were served on the side for those that preferred their food hotter. I love this place. The bill was under £20 per head for 3 courses.
