Where to start. It is becoming increasingly difficult to have a bad meal in Mayfair. But thanks to Langham's personnel's enthusiasm and resourcefulness, one can pay hundreds of pounds for a culinary experience I only dare compare to Little Chef's Sunday Lunch. The place looks like the canteen at the Romanian People's Party branch in downtown Galati, with a crowd to match.
Immediately after ordering two bottles of wine, we made the dreadful mistake of asking for tap water. The waiter made no secret of his disapproval. Raising his oversized eyebrows, he voiced the opinion that anyone proposing to drink water from the river Thames ought to be certified.
The rib of beef is basically a sliced sirloin steak, the foie gras was surgically extracted from a depressed duck, and the bread would be a very acceptable substitute for broken glass.
One of my fellow victims decided to jump on the grenade and footed the bill, so I refrained from burning the place down, but I have a mind to report it to the United Nations. Cruelty should not go unpunished.

Appalling food, shabby service and extremely expensive... ! However I was not alone in sharing this dreadful experience, as the restaurant was packed. Clearly, the poor punters are turning up to enjoy the 'atmosphere', whatever that means. If you're looking for 'buzz' may I recommend nearby Green Park Station - standing in the ticket hall will certainly provide the 'bustle' of Langhams and I hear that the kiosk there provides much better food. Avoid!

I also had highish expectations of Langhams! In the event, the food was mediocre but the atmosphere was busy and uplifting !

Had high expectations when asked to attend a birthday celebration. We were cramped onto a table of twelve which should have been more suited to numbers of no more than eight or nine max. It was so cramped that when seated the chairs were all jammed up against each other and the chairs, very upright. When carving my meal my elbows were pulled in tight to my waist and I had to wait for the person next to me to sit back from taking a mouthfull in order that I could then put the food in my mouth. I had steak and bubble and squeak. I ordered the steak medium - it actually arrived rare (the kiss of life and the animal would have been off down the road), the bubble and squeak was stone cold and tasted of white pepper - nothing else. We arrived at 20.30 and our meal finally arrived at 22.00. All this came to £60 per head. Not very impressive and shall not be going again.

We have eaten at this restaurant on many special occasions. The ideal place to eat, following an evening at a top West End production.
The atmosphere is buzzing, the food delightful, the ideal place to indulge yourself in English and French Cuisine.
For the best atmosphere and the chance to
dine with the occasional celebtities, ensure you book a table downstairs.(The menu differs slightly when you eat
upstairs.
Beaware of the service charges, they can
push the price of a meal up quite high. Having said this, I never tire of this
place, the service is fantastic and the staff helpful and friendly.
