AWFUL!.

Went for a Sunday Lunch a couple of weeks ago and had the worst experience. I enjoyed the singing / piano playing, but the service wasn't great (had to ask for cutlery) and the food was terrible. Didn't try any of the specials, ate from the main menu and everyone in my group agreed that it was possibly the worst meal to mind and VERY EXPENSIVE, to add insult to injury we had to pay a £20 service charge for the pleasure.

The Naked Turtle is wonderful - succulent food, great service, intimate atmosphere, and a funky decor. This restaurant truly makes your night one to remember. The menu is innovative (check out the specials) and the deserts are divine. It is a bit pricier, but you pay for the quality and the atmosphere.

Let's be realistic guys - Mother's Day lunch is difficult wherever you go! It's a popular day, and if you arrive at 2pm, then you run the risk that the favourite meals will be already eaten.

I love this place and will be back for more.... I've eaten at a LOT of restaurants, and usually don't return, as I love different experiences, but this one just keeps tempting me back!

We went for Mothers Day, what was supposed to be a treat turned out to be torture.

The four course mothers day menu on their website looked fantastic, we arrived on time for our 2.30pm booking and were seated promptly (after having to ask for another chair as one of the place settings didn’t have one).

We waited for just over half an hour for our (3 course) menu and not only was it not the same as the one on the website but we were also told that 3 of the 5 main courses were not available. They had substituted the lamb shank for a burger though!

One dessert was not available and when we enquired about the menu that we had seen on their own website we were told that we must be mistaken.

We left after half of our party had enjoyed their food (leaving the mothers trying to hide their disappointment) at 5.45pm.

The food was ok, the service was with good intent but of very poor service.

Overall a disappointment - Maybe they just took more bookings than that could cope with.

The worse meal I've had in years and even back then I do not remember it being so bad! I had been there before a few years ago and had really enjoyed it. So I decided to go there again last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place has seriously gone down hill. The menu was restrictive, the service was painfully slow even though it was on a Monday evening and they forgot to bring some of the things we had ordered but still tried to charge us for them. Will not go there again.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a good 12 months but never found people willing to “travel that far”. I had heard and read he best reviews about this place and although we initially wanted to go for the live music (which is only from Wednesday to Saturday), I was told that the menu was also something to write home about. I finally went last night with 3 friends and had a marvellous time. I had heard one bad comment about the service being slow, specially with regards to the drinks as they have to come from the bar but aside from my friends being 35minutes late, I felt everything was prompt and on queue.

For Starters, I had the Scallops with baby leek in butter sauce with lemon…..an absolute delight. My friends, being all French, all decided to have the “Duck Foie Gras”. As it happens this was indeed duck liver but should be renamed to Duck Liver Paté as, delicious as it was, it does not resemble the taste of Foie Gras in any way.

My main course could not have been anything else than the Roo Platter, a dish with a combination of crocodile and kangaroo. Very normally served with 2 bits of roast potatoes and a Celeriac purée. We asked if we could have something else than celeriac purée and were recommended to have the Sweet Jerusalem artichoke heart purée which ended up being fantastic. Crocodile tastes very very slightly fishy. The consistency of the meat is somewhere in between a tender chicken or a firm fish. The Kangaroo is just to die for. I envy the Australians who have these meats available on their doorstep. The Sauce in this dish is slightly too hot and peppery for my liking, I feel it overpowers the delicacy of the meats. All in all a very good dish however they could have put a bit more on the dish for the £20 price tag.

Desert was more beautiful than tasty. Hence the chosen picture.

We went there for the food and the only disappointment is that we couldn’t taste everything that was on the menu. There are plenty other dishes which look very appetising and will definitely be an incentive to return. Hopefully on a night when they actually sing.

Aside from the food, the restaurant itself has a nice, warm, friendly, low light atmosphere. The place was full and customers are a mixture of young trendy professionals, young mums on a girl’s only night out, couples, business partners etc.

There is a selection of artwork on the walls, all up for sale. The style is difficult to describe, although “Kid Art” is probably the closest thing. Not kid art in the sense that it was done by kids but in the choice of design, picture, subjects etc

A special thanks to the lovely Victoria whose bubbly personality made our evening one to remember.

I live near this restaurant and read lots of interesting reviews so thought we'd give it a go. We went on a saturday night and got there quite early, there was already a party of 10. We waited a long time to order a drink and when we tried to order some red wine they had run out of everything except the house wine! Good start...

Our waitress unfortunately was polish and when we asked for the specials she couldn't help us and kept having to send her colleague to serve us- seems bizarre to employ someone who can't actually take orders.

The food was very good, menu is restrictive, but it's very fresh good, very nicely presented and very tasty. We had calimari, Chicken and the most yum chocolate desserts. I have to give them 10/10 for the choice of desserts- and all amazingly presented.

The singing and painist were great and one waitress was lovely and attentive, the rest just stood around and didn't do much- a bit strange

Ordered a drambui after dinner- they had run out!! Ordered a grand marnier instead- got a coffee!!!!

The atmosphere is good, food is good, but service not good and lack of alcohol is ridiculous.

Saw reviews, thought sounds good lets give it a go. We Went on a busy saturday evening. There was only the two of us however they run out of most beers and many of the ingredients for the cocktails on the menu. Food menus were grabbed of us before we could order as they were running short of them for the party of six that just had arrived. Even pizza hut don't do that..! At that point I decided to leave. Can't review food as did not have a chance to order any. The best review I can give is that parking is easy.

I will not be return nor recommending this restaurant. sorry but this place has a long journey to catch up with the professionals.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times over the years and have all ways thought it was great fun with good service and good wines and cocktails if a little pricey. The only down side was the food was always very disappointing.

Having returned with friends for the first time for over a year I was impressed that the food quality had improved beyond belief, we all could not find fault with any of the dishes we had and left feeling thoroughly stuffed.

I only wished the rest of the restaurant had improved in kind.

We had to wait for ever to get drinks at the bar served by staff that were to say at best scruffy and disinterested in doing anything but chat up the waitresses and smoke them selves to death.

The gents loos looked like a bomb had gone off in there and I’m told the ladies were much the same.

The singing waitresses were average with only the restaurant manageress and one other really having much of a voice.

Service in the restaurant was good but could be better.

I’m informed it has anew head chef and new managers since I last ate here. And it shows on both counts.

Bring back the service and the smiles of the old naked turtle and combine it with the food of the new and this will be a genuine London gem.

My overall verdict

I will definitely be back for the food and hope the rest improves.

I hadn't eaten in the restaurant in a couple of years but the recent arrival of the new chef and hearing comments from other customers I thought I'd give it a go.

I went with the highly recommended steak caesar salad and my dining companion went for the rump steak. We both thought the food was excellent and served promptly and in a professional manner.

The background music and siging was a little loud and you had to raise your voice a little to be heard but the general ambiance of the restaurant and the lively segregated bar area made the whole evening very enjoyable.

I shall definitely be returning especially with the rear outdoor section opening soon I am lead to believe in time for the good weather!
