I find it amazing that people still go to Cipriani and complain about the price - we all know that it's going to be expensive and the food will not be amazing. If you want amazing food walk across the street and try Gordon Ramsay's at Claridges. Have eaten at Cipriani many times and never had anything to complain about. Food is consistent, staff friendly and the desserts outstanding. Whatever, Cipriani is about a convivial atmosphere where people watching is part of the evening. Best advice is to lighten up and enjoy yourself.

Hillarious place full of plastic people eating plastic food. About as authentic Italian as Pizza Hut. Avoid if you have taste buds.

Sadly, a rather disappointing experience where the food was average for the price, and I've had far better pasta at my local italian in Kensington. What you really pay for is a mystery beyond my understanding but the staff are very helpful and the service very good.

The food is really basic. My canneloni were quite heavy and not special at all for 25 pounds... It is so overpriced !!!! With the wine and a starter, the bill amounts to around 70-90 pounds.

The service is friendly. Nothing to complain about that.

But I was so disappointed by the food's quality...

Stayed in central London for the Bank holiday weekend and did not have anywhere booked for dinner on Sunday night and ended up at Cipriani on Concierge at our hotels recommendation.

First of all we were very pleased as the decor is fab and the atmosphere was buzzing, Sunday nights can be a bit dead in a lot of places but it was packed out.

Got the menu and was somewhat taken back by the prices! I am not afraid of splashing out on a nice meal but some of them were eye watering! £38.50 for medallions of beef stood out...wow!!

I had a minestrone soup to start for £8.50 (probably the cheapest starter on the menu) which was fine if a bit underwhelming. I then had a dover sole with asparagus and green beans main course for £27 which was very nice apart from the rather long hair that I found in the middle of it. My partner had a baked pasta dish with mushrooms and a cheese sauce for £18.50 which was very bland and left her feeling like she could have rustled up something far nicer herself in 10 mins at home.

I had to ask 3 times for my glass of Pinot Grigio to be bought and had to laugh when the warm eggcup full was finally delivered! The wine glasses really are a bad joke. To make matters worse the eggcup of wine cost £9!!!

We decided against coffee and dessert as Tiramisu at £13 a pop seemed to be stretching even Cipriani's bonkers prices to far.

To top off an "interesting" restaurant experience they then messed up the bill by charging us for 2 glasses of Veuve Cliquot rather than Prosecco. No apology was made for this £15 mistake when it was pointed out.

My recommendation would be to spend your money elsewhere, the prices are just not justified by the food or the service.

What a terrible place!! Went a few weeks ago with my friend for the second time. I wanted to give it another chance. The first time I went I didn“t eat, only had drinks and already wasn“t very impressed of rudeness of the waiters.

However that day my friend and I, we went for lunch and we both had pasta dishes, nothing fancy, quite plain rather. Pasta + 2diet coke + glases of champagne = 85pounds! in my opinion too overpriced and you get some snobby and rude waiters on top! who is serving whom?

In total very dissapointing, will definately not come back. And for everyone, please save your money and go somewhere else nice.

just awful - it is like the British take on Italian food in 1979 - gelatinous pre-prepared sauces, poor ingredients and lazy cooking.

Starter - had the swordfish pasta at £21 - fish tasteless, pasta overcooked and it was caked in a artificial tasting tomatoe based sauce

Main - Opted for the fillet steak rossini (AT £38 - its the most expensive plate in the restaurant) - this was a disgrace... the plate looked like it had been assembled by a 4 year old. was a sloppy mess. we had 2 pieces of meat.. on top of the meat was the rossini and then a dollop of bernaise sauce... surrounding the steak was what they said was "meat juices" - what a load of rubbish.. it was a gelatinous sauce from a tin.. just awful. although the steak was cooked as ordered, the meat wasnt fillet - it was some kind of braising steak which was tough and tasted really quite bad. i pointed all these points out and to their credit, the steak was removed from the bill.

pudding - tiramisu.. pretty average.

bread very plain, nice butter, warm white wine, cheap wine glasses, nice cocktail list.

The whole experience was "Italian fine dining" but set in 1979 - wouldnt wish this place upon anyone.

I have unfortunately had the displeasure of dining at the Cipriani a number of times and it is just so god damn awful! The primary reason that anyone should go to a restaurant is to eat (the ambience/celebrity spotting/atmosphere should be secondary)and there is no excuse to serve dishes which are so uninspiring at best and so inedible at worst. For these prices there are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from in W1 and without the trashy clientel.

I can understand peoples annoyance with the prices in here, they are extremely high for what really are standard dishes. However if you are looking for culinary delight then this is not the restaurant for you, and if you were under the illusion that this italian restaurant might be, then you probably dont know serious food anyway. I found the food very satisfactory and the portions almost american in size. There is a set menu too which would help keep the price down.

Where this restaurant did score, was its service, it was quite simply on that night, the best in London. Maybe it was because I had a nice looking date or had enjoyed a bit of banter with the Maitre D, but whatever the reason the service was incredible. The table cloth was even changed during the meal after a very small spillage, almost too small too notice, it was changed with the speed and precision of Ferrari pit lane crew , almost before I could say please dont worry about it. The atmosphere was fun too and the waiters certainly contributed to this. I would happily go back there again, but I probably wont be drinking expensive champagne again. It ended up being a very expensive night. A great night though.

I have been to Cipriani several times and every time my experience was slightly different but I always had average bland 'italian' food. The pastas are always overcooked (yes I know they're homemade egg-pasta but there is no need to serve mush), the fish and meats (the worst milanese in London) tasteless.

But what surprises me most is that nobody noticed that at Cipriani one can order an expensive bottle of fine wine, but they do not have the appropriate glasses so one must drink out of cheap £1 water glasses. Unforgiveable.

This restaurant is not for people to eat at - it's for people to look at other people. Go, have a Bellini at the bar, stay for a little bit, and go have dinner somewhere else.
