I felt compelled to review this restaurant after today's experience at 'hush'. As today was valentine's day, and i cannot stand the crush and rush of evening meals on this money-spinning evening, we decided a lunch time visit to this quiet and elegant brasserie tucked away from the bustle of new bond street might make a pleasant change. Our arrival was greeted by the stiff and curt waitress who asked if we 'were eating", after we asked for a table for two. We waited for a good five minutes before receiving our menus, upon which we were asked for our drink orders. A little difficult considering we had only just that instant recieved the wine list. After browsing through the menu, deciding on our orders, we waited to place them...and we waited...and we waited. Finally we were served after asking if we could order as we were in a slight rush (my girlfriend only had an hour and a half for her lunch break). After forty five minutes the waiter came over to 'inform' us that our food would be a little longer, as the order hadn't been received by the kitchen. Therefore to speed things along, we asked that my girlfriend's meal would be served together with my starter. Things speeded up, however once my starter was finished and taken away, my girlfriend only had four minutes to eat her pumpkin risotto, which she found tastless and bland. At this point she had to leave, whilst i waited for my main, a steak and ale pie. Eventually it arrived, and to be fair, it was good. My starter, mushroom on brioche was also very good. When the waiter came to clear away, he asked me if i'd like anything else, a dessert perhaps. I was astonished, and asked for the bill, which arrived with a nice 12.5% service charge. I was shocked at the management's attitude to this ruined meal. I simply wanted the courtesy of an apology. Neither himself, nor the waiter offered a geniune apology for what was a terrible experience. I had been for drinks in the upstairs bar on numerous occassions. However I have vowed never to go there again. The service was shocking, incosiderate and overall rude. I thought maybe it was just a one off unfortunate experience, however as i was leaving the man to my right on a similar lunch (who had been staring at his menu so long, i imagine he could name the specials for everyday of the week) asked ironically "are we allowed to order?"

I returned here with a girlfriend recently having had a very enjoyable meal here last year.

You have to take this restaurant for what it is-very nice ,good quality simple food cooked very well, ok so its a tad expensive for what it is but we ate well, it tasted good and with the 50% off deal I would return -perhaps not at the full price however!

Actually I would have the dover sole over and over again-it melted in the mouth-try it if you go!

My husband and I went to Hush with visiting friends, and we had a lovely evening. I felt the service was spot-on - quite attentive without being overbearing. As for the food, it is very rich but enjoyable (and filling!). My husband loved his lobster bisque, and the quail, served with pearl barley and cherries in a 'jus', was excellent. I was rather disappointed with the veg that accompanied my halibut, as they were very dry and overdone. However, the halibut was very good.

We thought the atmosphere was very good - if anything, the bar next door added some life to an initially very quiet dining area (we were the only table for about 1 hr).

I would recommend Hush and would go back, but only to treat friends for a special occasion (it's very pricey!). I would not recommend it for a romantic dinner.

Awful.Had the french rabbit - it was the worst dish ever cooked.I'm sure the waiter would have cooked better. My wife had the risotto - she need it a knife to cut squares on the plate - that's how hard it was.

Maybe the ones that rate it wit good quality food get paid to do this.

For regular customers - if you want good simple food go downstairs in the brasserie, or if you want good restaurant food go somewhere else.

What an utterly dreadful experience. The worst service I have come across in a London restaurant - and they were not even busy.

The food was ok/average - when it arrived. But an hour waiting between starter and main course, despite three requests is simply unnacceptable and no apology was offered. No wine was poured without it being asked for.

The attitude was, without exception, disinterested and abrupt at best - starting with the unhelpful 'greeter' at the entrance.

I will never go back - the two clients I was with will not either. However, we will be telling all of our clients and friends to avoid such a miserable and overpriced experience at all costs.

They couldn't even be bothered to listen to us when we explained why they were not getting a tip - given the overpriced food, though, they probably don't care.
