Had dinner at this restaurant last night - was pleasantly and happily surprised!

We both had pizza, and they were fresh and delicious, with plenty of toppings. The staff were friendly and helpful - they didn't even mind when I attempted to complain that there were no anchovies on my pizza (only to be gently told they were underneath the cheese!)

Despite there being only a few diners in the restaurant, there was plenty of atmosphere, the decor is relaxing and comfy, with good (but not too loud) music to accompany your meal.

Although there is little choice of good restaurants in the area, this really is a little gem. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely dinner a few weeks ago at the Yellow House. Food was good, service was maybe not that fast but they were very friendly and apologised for the delay. We will definitely be going back there. Probably the next restauarant in/around Rotherhithe!

Truly one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at! My partner and I live locally and have been there at least ten times so far. We have only ever had good experiences there and the food is fantastic. We regularly also take family and friends with us who all have the same comments. The choice of food is good, the portion sizes are perfect, the staff are always friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the desserts are out of this world! Always a good atmosphere there and the only place I've been where the head chef comes out to greet you and go through the dessert menu.

This restaurant is quite simply amazing. As I live nearby and love eating out this restaurant has become my saviour in what is a fairly dismal gastronomic area. The food is great, including the deserts and pizza and they use top quality ingredients. I don’t understand about the complaints regarding service as the staff have always been extremely friendly and efficient and even if the kitchen is busy and it takes a little longer than normal for the meal the atmosphere is good. Reasonable price too considering the quality! I can’t wait for the Yellow tavern to open.

Having only recently moved to the Surrey Quays area, I was amazed at the lack of good restaurants, so when I stumbled on The Yellow House (which is hard to miss on account of its bold exterior) I had to go inside to try it out.

Although the dinning area is small, the atmosphere is good and the staff could not be more polite and helpful.

As for the food, although not fine dinning standard, I have never had a better pizza in my life!

Truly a perfect restaurant which is sensibly priced - I will be definitely going back!

I read the bad reviews of this restaurant with dismay.

Living 2 minutes away this is an obvious choice for me when I can't be bothered to trek into town. And it's always been 100% worth it.

The menu is great, and the vegetarian options are always varied and plentiful. The food itself is excellent and the service whilst not the quickest is always really friendly.

I find the food reasonably priced and there's a half decent wine list as well. All in all a quality little place in a particularly barren area. Comparing this to the Chinese place on Lower Road, what a joke.

I have only been here once so far but I have to say I'm very impressed. Admittedly the service isn't the quickest ever but to be honest I enjoyed sitting and chatting for 45 minutes over a nice bottle of wine.

The portions, on first glance, looked rather meagre but upon further inspection were atually quite reasonable. By no means huge but nicely filling. Myself and my girlfriend had a shared starter, 1 x Salmon & 1 x Roast Beef Fillet Rossini (the beef was the best I've ever had), a bottle of wine, a couple of coffees and a desert and it came to £70 including service charge. The service (as I mentioned earlier) wasn't particularly quick but was polite and more friedly than most places, the chef racing over to greet us as we arrived, so all in all I was impressed and will definitely be going back.

Awful. Hadn't been here for 6 months after really bad service in the past but decided to give it another go thinking it must have improved. Thick black hair in the starter. Word came back from the chef to say it was part of the mushroom?! Main courses took half an hour to arrive. Lamb was fatty with gristle. White chocolate cheesecake, which had been a redeeming feature on our last visit, was bland. And for this we paid £70 for two people? Not even a glass of wine to say sorry for the hairy mushrooms. Really - I want to like this place as it is two mins from my house and the setting is nice but two hours to get through an underwelming meal for two is a bit too much to take. I know the area doesn't offer much else but the chinese opposite fatty arbuckles is nice with a contmporay feel and decent food at a fraction of this price.

The yellow house is a true marvel in an area full of fast food and generally bad (unhealthy, processed food) pub/restaurants.

It has a risky location on the Surrey Quays-Deptford borders but I'm glad to see it has managed to establish itself with its fresh mostly organic ingredients, producing tasty honest food at reasonable prices, nicely presented without being pretentious.

I like the interior design and the artwork usually displayed.

Furthermore on my recent visit I was glad to learn that the Yellow House has joined the restaurants against hunger campaign, whereby a minimal amount of your bill goes to this charity.

This is a nice touch although I remain suspicious. It may be a bit like carbon off setting; whilst you stuff yourself you can do so with a clear conscience as 50p of your bill will feed starving children??

However it is a start and hopefully raises awareness. It was not clearly marked on the menu and the bill though which I commented on.

I have not had a bad meal in there although I think the portion sizes vary.

Choice of wine is good although I generally favour a bigger choice of European wines for environmental reasons

I applied the three strikes and you're out (!) concept. As I live just down the road I've been happy to give the Yellow House the benefit of the doubt twice but the same old problems persist...and need to be rectified if they wish to succeed at their new premises.

While the food selection is adequate and the staff friendly, they really let themselves down managing the table service. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to sit in a French restaurant and wait hours for my meal to arrive, but then again when the next table has arrived after you and are polishing off their desserts by the time our main dish arrives...it does make you wonder.

Having being charged per bottle instead of per glass at my first two visits seemed more another act of disorganisation than malicious intent but it is such small details that can spell success or failure and I have to say it is going down the latter road at the moment.
