We visited Whits on June 24th for dinner. We have been a number of times and we continue to be amazed and imprssed at the quality of the food and the level of service. This is a really great local restuarant that everyone should try. I seem to recall that there was a review stating that the food was of the frozen variety which, in our view, is totally ridiculous because it isn't, it is totally fresh and the palate tells you this!! I also seem to recall some complaint about the fact that dogs are welcome and all I can say is good on the owner of Whits. Local resturants are about giving the locals what they want and clearly this is NOT a big issue unless you don't like dogs and if this is the case then go somewhere else.

Eva is a wonderful hostess as was her new waitress.. We had a great meal and a great time and we will return and return, thank you Eva..

We held our Civil Parnership reception at Whits last April 2008, I can't believe I did not write a review at the time. We met with Eva a month or so before the event, she helped us select the menu and wines she also suggested a small drinks and canape reception before dinner, this turned out to be an excellent idea, our gursts loved having the opportunity to mingle before dinner. The food, service and atmosphere made the whole event special for us, our friends still talk about it. We could not have choosen better.

Went for dinner on a weekday evening. The staff are very welcoming. The room is odd-very long and narrow, with a very long bar along one side that occupies most of the space. There are some tables squeezed along the opposite wall from the bar-these are to be avoided like the plague, unless you enjoy getting bumped by the waitstaff, the bar patrons coming off their stools etc.The small raised room at the end is better. The food is wide ranging-it's not really from any one country. All of

it seems to have one ingredient too many. Most of the dishes have nuts in them, and there is a prominent warning to this effect. While the food was generally fine,as mentioned, subtracting one ingredient would have made it simpler and,in my view better.

The one truly annoying thing, that will keep me from going back,is that this restaurant(probably to be friendly) allows dogs.I have nothing against dogs. But I don't think any animal should be allowed in a restaurant.

We visited Whits last evening and found the service and food excellent. It was our first visit and will certainly not be our last. It is the first restaurant we have ever been to who actually ask you if you want tap water or mineral water and this is a real plus. As a neighbourhood restaurant it is second to none and a place to treasure.

We were invited to Whits for a 30th Wedding Anniversary party. We had a set menu, lobster ravioli, rack of lamb and a trio of desserts. The food was quite frankly amazing, quality and quantity wise. Eva and Steve make a great team and ensured wine and champagne topped up frequently. We have eaten here before and the standards and service have not changed.

Living close to Whits has over the last 4 given me ample opportunity to enjoy Steve, (the chefs) food and Evas warm welcome and hospitality. I have always been hugely impressed by the food and I would regard the decor as pretty timeless. My current favorites are the foie gras terrine with fig chutney and toasted brioche to start and roast rump of lamb for main. Although as the menu changes frequently with the seasons I will find a new favorite on my next visit I am sure.

Always worth considering for Sunday lunch too, friends visiting from out of town have always been blown away by the food when I have brought them here and at £19.50 for the set lunch menu is great value too!

I hope anyone reading this enjoys Whits as I do!

I found this wonderful restaurant on a dog-friendly website. I also found a jewel at the same time. I had luncheon with a friend who is a foodie like myself.

The food was absolutely out of this world! My dog sat quietly throughout the entire 2 and half hours and was as good as gold and served with a lovely fresh bowl of water.

The hosts were absolutely charming and the house wine was delicious. I can whole heartedly recommend this to all - brilliant value for money - especially in Kensington. I shall be returning very shortly!

My wife invited me to our excellent local restuarant Whits today for Sunday lunch. This is the best restuarant in Kensington! Coq au vin was on the menu - The last time I had a good one was in France. Today was super - it was one of the best coq au vin I have tasted. Steve (the boss) told me he marinaded it for 72 hours. It was really good. Eva (Mrs Boss) was as attentive as ever and the lovely waitress could not do enough for us. Five star lunch!!

Whits is our favourite restuarant - we went there for a quick dinner last week.we had steak and chips which was fantastic!! The chips was plump, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside absolutely scrumpshous !! The steak was cooked to perfection - only Steve can produce such perfection!! Big thank you Eva and Steve for such a great evening.

We've been going to Whits for years - I call it the best restaurant in London because the food always exceeds expectations and surpasses the simple description on the menu. Just adventurous enough and also seasonal. Starts with delicious warm bread rolls. My favourite at the moment is the scallop risotto - a generous number of succulent scallops on perfect risotto. Even a green salad is a delicous and varied selection of leaves and herbs with a well balanced dressing. Eva is very welcoming as well as efficient and service always smooth. Couldn't recommend it more highly!
