Sometimes there is no point beating about the bush. This is one of those times.
The food here is not good, not good at all. Some of the dishes arrived luke warm, none were (temperature) hot.
The nasi lemak ayam was appalling. Bland, not spicy, cold hard-boiled egg. It had no redeeming features. The food was a pale imitation of the real thing & having been to Malaysia/Singapore many times, I know what this food is meant to be like.
Other dishes were also bland and uninspiring. Extremely disappointing.
The only acceptable dish was the chicken in pandan leaves.
To add insult to injury, the dishes were not cheap and offered poor value for money.
The service was OK. At least the restaurant is quite clean.
All in all, it was a meal we would rather forget. We will never visit this restaurant outlet again.

Was greatly disappointed with this restaurant at the Westfield Shopping Centre. Looked forward to it all week when my husband and I saw the menu. When we arrived, it was quite empty but all other restaurants were full. We thought it was due to other people's preference for food so thought nothing of it.
Ordered starters (chicken satay and chicken wrapped in pandan leaves), main course were mee goreng mamak and hainanese chicken rice. Drinks were teh tarik (hot), teh ice and tiger beer.
Chicken satay came first. There was no flavour in the chicken. The satay sauce was so watery and no taste at all. No side dish provided either.
Drinks then came. We asked where was the chicken wrapped in pandan leaves (our other starter). The waitress said it's coming. Tasted the Teh Tarik and it was like drinking hot water only. Told them to take it back cos me being a Malaysian, I know what Teh Tarik should taste like.
We were halfway eating our satay starter when they brought in both main course. By this time, my husband and I were already irritated. He told the waitress we haven't even finish our starter and still waiting for the other. She answered back "Oh those are side dishes. The chicken will come later." This conversation went back and forth and we were getting frustrated with the response from the waitress.
The Chicken Rice does not even taste like chicken rice. The bean sprouts and chilli were too sweet and it spoiled the rest of the flavour. The soup was too salty and the rice doesn't have the chicken flavour in it.
No flavour at all in the Mee Goreng Mamak. Thoroughly disappointed. When we finished the main course, out came our "side dish" the Chicken in Pandan Leaves where we told them what's the point in eating this now when we finished the main course already. My husband took a bite of the chicken and had to spit it out as it was uncooked inside. We called the manager and complained about everything including the uncooked chicken.
The manager did apologise (hence the 1 star rating) and didn't charge us for the chicken and teh tarik from our bill. But really, the whole meal was not even worth the money we paid for.
We knew we were the talk of the night in that restaurant due to our complaints but we had enough of the treatment and the food that we just didn't care.
We went home and went to McD's drive through instead for supper. So much better and would recommend McD instead!

I should have read the reviews before coming to this restaurant. Everything other reviewers wrote were true. This is the worst place we have ever been in the whole world, and we are not fussy eaters! The only reason we came because, the place was nearly empty because we had our son with us and we didn' t want to disturb other guests.
Teh tarik came from the sachet( you can see the powder didn't dissolved properly) teh Ice limau (ice lemon tea) was sooo sour you can't even swallow it, no taste of tea or sugar. The Kedah set menu costs £24 for two and was a total rip off.
No more roti canai, so there's no substitute, all the dishes came in a very small bowl, the type of bowls that you normally see in other restaurant for serving bowl of rice. All dishes consisted only very small portion, tasteless with very thick gravy.
Best thing is the salad and sambal to accompany the meal were came last after we finished the whole meal!
Service was very bad, the two of them were polishing cutleries and setting up tables of an empty restaurant. Our dinner finally arrived 50 minutes later.
We have paid £30 for tasteless meals and drinks. Truly a sad testament for a place where they say they serve fresh authentic Malaysian food, and we are Indonesian!
Avoid at all costs, it will be a miracle if this place lasts another 6 months.

Had the misfortune to chose this restaurant whilst out shopping on New Years Day. The service was shambolic, the quality of the food was dire and the whole meal was grossly over priced. I would recommend that when visiting Westfield and you want to eat chose one of the other many restaurants and have a decent meal rather than the dried out non authentic dishes that are served at this restaurant.

Four of us ate here on 10th October. It was less than half full and given some of the reveiws below I would imagine if it is any fuller they would struggle to cope!
The food was ok, we shared mixed satay starters and had a selection of main dishes. The quality of the meat was variable, some tender, some tough and gristly for both the beef and chicken dishes. The rendang was very spicy which was ok for me but might not be for others. There is no choice on how spicy you would like a dish which suggests a lot of dishes are made in advance and can't be made to particular tastes. It also explains why some previous reviewers complained of food being cold. However, given what you pay for the meal the food is about average - £20-25 per head for 2 courses and Drinks.
Their biggest problem appears to be with the staffing and organsiation. The waiter who served us made mistakes on both the drinks and the food orders, which for a table of 4 should not have posed any problems. He didn't seem too confident or competant so I assume had little or no previous experience.
At one point someone who looked like the manager/chef came out with one of the dishes that had been missed off the order. She also came out later when the dishes needed collecting and there was clearly an issue with between her and the waiter because they were having a it of an arguement about something!
I would say the waiters don't seem to be good enough and the Manager (if that's what she was) has to follow round picking up after the mistakes. As she appears to be the main cook as well then you can see why when busy that the whole thing could fall apart. Having said that we were reasonably satisfied with what we got and at least we could have a laugh about some of the goings on because at least we did get fed!

I have to agree with everybody who wrote something in here.
The worst restaurant I have ever been to. Terrible servce!
They have totally ignored us, we waited for ages to be served and even longer to have order taken and a century to get our food.
Food was disgusting, burnt and dry.
I would not recommened to anyone, it was not a nice experience I will never go again.

One of the worst lunch experiences in London so far. We had to queue up for over half an hour, finally after being seated, it took the waiter another 15 minutes to come take our order. He looked completely clueless, not sure about the dishes or the portions.
Our starters arrived in bits and parts, suddenly midway our waiter came and started picking up our plates, we told him that we were waiting for the main, he said he will give us fresh plates. After than they completely forgot to serve our food. We had to remind the waiter for our main, he did not even bother to check. Then another waiter arrived to take our order again and then she also disappeared. Finally after telling the manager, the food arrived but the plates did not. Had to wait for 10 more minutes before someone else kindly got us some plates.
The portions were small, but the most appalling bit was the taste. The food was bland, tasteless and completely unauthentic. We love Malaysian food and eat it a lot. The food served here was by far the worst, even the drinks were watered down and tasteless. We asked for some tap water, never got more than one glass.
We were sitting in front of the kitchen, the kitchen staff were having a fight with the waiters and no one seemed interested in serving the customers. The manager had to keep calming her staff.
There were 4 adults in our group, after spending over £80 on lunch, we all came out dissatisfied and hungry! WE ARE NOT GOING BACK EVEN IF THEY OFFER US FREE FOOD.

I visited Jom Makan at Westfield in the new Stratford City and was appalled with the quality of food and the dire service. I've been to the Jom Makan at Shepherds Bush and it was 100 times better that Stratford City (to give you some comparison). Avoid this restaurant like the plague (or at least until they've figured out what they're doing). I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN!! This is the worst restaurant i have been to in a very long time. My boyfriend ordered beef rendang with roti and i ordered chicken&potato curry with rice. After a long wait my chicken curry came out and a CHICKEN rendang for him. We said they got his order wrong so they took his away and left mine sitting there to get cold. After trying to get someone's attention i told them that my food was getting cold and i couldn't eat it without the rice i ordered. They said we hadn't ordered anything to accompany the curry (even though i saw the waiter write it down). We re-placed our order and they took my curry away. After another wait, along comes my chicken curry and guess what... a CHICKEN rendang for my boyfriend...By this point we're ready to throw it back at them. After finally getting our correct order, we were disappointed with the food. It was warm - close to cold, my curry had only cheap cuts of meat and 1 small sliver of potato. The soya milk i ordered hadn't been sweetened. The iced Teh Tarik my boyfriend ordered was lumpy and warm (they must've used instant powder). The service was incredibly poor and staff seemed disinterested. If you want good malaysian food, i would highly recommend Rasa Sayang just off China Town (Little Newport Street) excellent service, authentic food and great value for money. Steer clear of Jom Makan in Westfield Stratford
