Not sure about some of these reviews, to be honest. I have been twice and had a great time! I went with some friends and we all had a great time, was the perfect inexpensive pit stop when wandering around the area. The second time I took my sisters (3 & 6) everyone was really friendly. When we were being seated a blonde lady was laughing and joking with my sisters. After about 5 mins of sitting down the 3 yr old spilled a drink, everyone was really REALLY nice about this. The table was drenched but it was cleaned up really quickly and everyone was so sweet to her about it (she was upset and embarrassed) the drink was replaced with no fuss at all. They had cakes and I had soup both were lovely. For the area I would say it was really inexpensive, the first time I had the lasagne which I think was about £7 and really filled me up.

I looked this place up cause we had such good experiences, I will definately be going back with friends and my sisters!!!

Great food and darn quick. perfect for lunch - you can be in and out in 10 mins but actually feel like you have had a had a proper home-cooked meal. Staff friendly and attractive! Grab a window seat if you can - and slurp on their amazing milkshakes. Best fairycakes in London and the chicken soup is heaven. A must-visit.

I have been to Muriels Kitchen a few times now in order to get a proper impression and I have to say my overiding feeling when I leave is one of embarrassed disappointment.

Though the food is decent it is very overpriced and the general attitude towards customers is appalling. The woman who appears to be in charge seems to be highly stressed every time I have been in and deeply unfriendly. I have felt as though my being there is simply a nuisance and although many of the waiting staff try to be friendly there is a general atmosphere of chaos about the place.

The decor has been done very well and is just how a kitchen should be in my opinion, with different sections for a quick snack or a longer more leisurely lunch and colours to brighten and refresh on a gloomy October day.

For a new and small establishment I think the self important attitude is a little bit premature and the small change of a friendly smile (that reaches the eyes) when a customer enters would really make all the difference.

This place may be good to take away but not eat in.

Windows are displaying nice cakes and dishes but when you it in the choice is very lumited. I have been to times and my 1st choice was always sold out!

Service is very slow, my latte was luke warm, and I have to say as other reviewers most of the staff is really not friendly compared to other similar places in the area.

Overall disappointing.

Went there for the 1st time today and will be going back soon for sure! The staff were very helpful and I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Not enough places do freshly squeezed vegetable juices and fresh free range healthy hot dishes, so I'm glad to have Muriel's as an addition to the South Ken. collection of cafe's. Its my new favourite for sure - it feels authentic, and I look forward to my next visit.

I think i must have eaten somewhere different to the two people below. My food was stunning, (so good I asked for the recipe) the service was excellent and I had a wonderful experience. One of the dishes I wanted was running out and the manager had a new one made within 5 minutes with no fuss at all. I'm not sure why the people below had a such a bad time but really I could not recommend it more, and have sent friends their who have all RAVED about it to. Its by far my new favorite place to eat and grab food to go!!!!

A morning to forgot.... after walking past a number of times one would think this eatery is a hit with its healthy looking dishes adorning the display, fresh airy fit out and busy atmosphere... deciding to give this new local a go some friends we ventured down on Sunday for brunch.

Luckily we got in just in time (brunch finishes somewhere between 11 and 11:30 which for a Sunday is fair too early)... luckily with the timing but that was about it, the morning then became a nightmare.... for ease I am just going to list the debacles :

1) Service from a staff member who told us he couldn't speak much English

2) No oranges for fresh orange juice

3) No soy milk

4) Attempting to give us someone elses drinks order

5) Lattes that were more like cappuccinos

6) An order for eggs benedict with hollandise on the side bought out covered in hollandise sauce, returned, then bought back with no ham, returned, and finally bought out correctly (15 mins after everyone else was served) for a very unsatisfying overpriced meal (Sth Ken prices without the Sth Ken quality or service)

A true disappointment and a place NEVER to go again!!!

We went for a Sunday Brunch with my husband and son. First they had no high chair. Then it took 15 min to have a menu to order food. Then the food ordered was run out: no more quiche Lorraine at 12.30pm. Few other alternatives as the lunch menu only had 5 courses to chose from.

My husband lasagna was poorly heated and was dry on the outside and cold inside. My brocoly soup was not creamy and tasteless.

But it was hard to eat anyway as our son was not staying on his chair and in the small crowded room the waitresses were pushing my chair all the time to go through to other customers.

The worst moment was when I was told there was no baby changing table in the toilets and that I should change my son on the floor... I decided to change him on a bench near the window on my own changing mat but other customers complained to the manager. It's when she came shouting at me telling me I was rude and with a child I should not have stayed in the restaurant.

Then she complained to my husband, telling him off about me. Very unpleasant. We didn't finish our poor dishes and just left after paying and complaining about the awfull experience we just had to the manager. She even pointed out I come from a different country and maybe it explains why we didn't like the place... awful.

Never go there, especially if you have a child/baby. Too bad they are just opening in a nice familly friendly area, maybe their openning business plan didn't notice they are close to schools and museums!
