I had heard great things about this restaurant, but have to report a mortally disappointing meal. The service was indifferent, and the food was average at best (particularly for the price).
One of my friends, who is a vegetarian, ordered the vegetarian breakfast for her brunch. She was half way through it before she realised that what she had received was the full english breakfast.
Pretty terrible, and we won't be returning.

I was taken here by a friend as a treat. The location is lovely next to the river, with a modern light decor. The food however is over rated, my second trip and still the same impression. The starter was cumbersome in its exercution, thick chunks of fatty salami, the main was lovely the cod well cooked, the dessert ok but not memorable. A lovely evening with nice wine and great company, but I will not return for the value for money.Dinner14th July

Being new to the area -we have tried most of the restaurants in Richmond, but not this one as it is difficult to find and requires a walk along the riverside. What a wonderful suprise......very stylish place, in a magnificent location. How wonderful to sit outside by the river and dine to this standard. The food was sublime, beautifully prepared and presented and the service attentive and professional.I recommend the Lemon Tart-lightest and best in London. Well done Canyon- we will return.

This is a restaurant I regularly dine in the summer (let’s face it) do to its great location and decent service not its average and overpriced food.....
What makes me laugh is the snobbish Richmond (and area) crowd making a fuss about sitting outside...
What people don’t understand is that this restaurant doesn’t take reservations OUTSIDE.
ONLY if you have a reservation inside and there are tables available outside you will get a table. Its quite a scene to watch people who get everything not get a table outside straight away, and loose their minds...I was there last week waiting for a table outside with my wife and we where watching this crazy lady loose her mind about not getting a table outside it was the most entertaining restaurant experience I had in years.....
My wife however felt quite sorry for the manageress who had to deal with all the drama.... Ill be back....

Beautiful setting and wonderful food-quite a find in SW London. We had a perfect schnitzel pan fried with parmesan and a superb quality lamb dish with greek salad, finished with chocolate pot and a lovely light lemon tart. The wine was great too-an Australian Shiraz which had superb body. All in a wonderful experience with superb service. Highly recommended.

What a shame!
Fantastic location...BUT...very poor quality of food! And not just one dish was way below par - the 2 starters contained visibly old (freezer burn) salad and vegetables and gorgonzola cheese that was "generic blue cheese" with its rind still on and not gorgonzola. One main course (Tuna) was not cooked to order and arrived cold. The other main course, a Wiener Schnitzel seemed and tasted like pre-packed/pre-cooked. The batter was very greasy and the meat itself tasted like cardboard (certainly not worth £20!).
I did raise my complaint with one of the waiters who was polite and after some moments returned to offer a discount on the bill. A kind offer; however, I much rather pay my bill in full and in return have a nice experience in a restaurant.
In reading other reviews it appears that this restaurant might have a serious "quality" problem. Too bad since the setting is nice. I for sure will not recommend nor return.

Why bother? I had frankly a horrible experience when my wife and I visited Canyon recently.
We asked someone (I presume the manager) whether we could have a table for two outside. She was obviously under pressure and didn't make eye contact. She asked us to wait at the bar until a table for two became available outside; which we did.
Having done so, we noticed two separate couples come in who were seated immediately. They did not have bookings either as I heard them say so.
I went to the manager and asked why we hadn't been seated first and (again without having the courtesy to look at me) she said curtly that I had asked to have a drink at the bar. She didn't apologise, her tone was argumentative and she made absolutely no effort to make it up to us.
We came away apalled. Canyon really has no reason to be up itself.

what a fantastic place the food and service has improved tremendously. i use to go there for brunch but last week had lunch on two different occasion. £15.00 for three courses what a bargain. i had rillette of salmon, confit of duck lemon tart one day then asparagus hollandaise, rump of lamb and chocolate pot the other.
i was so impressed and then realised i don't need anymore to go to central london to have a decent meal.

Times eat for £5 offer.......can't be bad I thought. Haven't been to Canyon for a long time so thought I'd check it out. Boy, was I wrong! I still can't believe they gave me pasta with tomato sauce...out of a jar I suspect. Actually, most jars are better. It is what I make when I can't be bothered to cook. A real insult to be offered food like this. I will never return.
