Wonderful Patisserie

This restaurant is quite 'bare-bones' but it has it where it counts. The mantra behind this restaurant is really to get bums on seats, but not to do anything more than required.

The food is very good. I always compare places like this to the Penang hawkers, and Wonderful Patisserie can hold its own. This I like, as it is right at the end of my road. Perfect placement, as far as I'm concerned.

It occupies the lower level of an office block. They have cleaned and tiled the inside and turned about two thirds of it into a restaurant. The remaining space is given over to a shop, which is part of the same business but allows one to buy basic supplies and a few novelty items. It's very functional to look at.

The service is a bit sporadic, but basically good. Sometimes they don't seem to stock several items on the dim-sum menu, which would be read in one of two ways. Either they're so popular that they simply run out. Or they're ill-prepared and don't stock enough. In any case, I've always left this place full, having eaten items I enjoyed.

One can't complain about the bill. It's always very low and it doesn't seem to matter what has been ordered. I'm a repeat customer - mainly because it is so local. But also because it is genuinely good.
