I booked my spanish lady-friend, and another Spanish couple in for a Valentines dinner at this restaurant, on the internet after seeing some reviews. All I can say, is that it was most disapointing. We arrived early and I asked if we should come back a little later, the waitress said, no it was OK, we were seated, but the (restricted) Valentine menu did not arrive for about 25 minutes, my friends wine and coke another 15 minutes, and my beer another 10 minutes later. There were a choice of I think 1 of three in each of the courses. After ordering the starters came and were OK, a reasonable time later the main course came, my friends said their's were fine, but my fillet steak was cold, so I sent it back, the same steak returned, warmer this time, but of course overcooked. Desserts were reportedly fine. When the bill came it amounted to 244 pounds including a 12 and a half percent service charge. When the waitress came and asked if all was well, I told her I was disapointed, she showed concern but did not offer to take any action. There were about 36 to 38 covers at the time we started our meal, with I think 7 waiters/waitresses, to wait almost 1 hour for ones first drink, and to serve cold food in what is not a ceap restaurant, is not acceptable.

We ate here on Valentine's night and the food was excellent BUT we were not told when we booked that it was a set meal and the menus had no prices on them. Also, we were presented with a cocktail on arrival and assumed it was part of the set meal, however when we received the bill, we found that we had been charged separately for them at £7 a cocktail. Because it was Valentine's night my husband did not want to complain and spoil the ambiance of the evening but we came away feeling that we had been ripped off.

At camerino everything was, from food, service, and staff, second hand. Other restaurant in the area are less expensive and much better.

Lots of good comments already so heres my verdict. Amazing food, great wine and great service. The only thing I would point out was the wine was very expensive.

Excellent food, drink and service. There was nothing to fault at all, the portions were just the right size in the three course special that you dont come out feeling overfaced. Would recommend to anyone wanting to eat in the £20-40 per head bracket

I recently went to Camerino and was utterly disappointed. The reviews on London eating sounded very impressive and thought Camerino would serve good Italian. We ordered the sausage and mash dish for the appetizer. The sausage looked more like spam (corned beef) and wasn't fully cooked. We had the Spaghettini allo Scoglio, with Mixed Seafood, Garlic, Sweet Chili for our mains which was also a disappointment. The spaghettini was not al-dente; it was not fully cooked and slightly hard. We were starving and didn't want to return the dish and wait further. The wine didn't arrive as the waitress forgot the order and we had to remind her. We expressed our thoughts on the dishes and the waitress was polite and felt that, thats is the way those dishes should be served and that customers have different preference to their tastes. The waitress later advised that they tasted the pasta and it was fine for them. We were offered complementary coffee and tea instead. The ambience was dull and old looking too. Wasn't impressed and am very surprised that the reviews on the london eating site was very high with complementing reviews which I failed to benefit from or agree with. The 2007 Time Out Eating book reflects true comments about Camerino for those who feel otherwise too. Camerino has to buck up with their Italian cuisine standards as there are much better Italian restaurants in London.
