A second branch of Jamie Oliver's new British chain, Union Jacks, is now open in Chiswick. The menu includes starters like ham hock terrine and potted prawns, alongside a selection of wood-fired flatbreads with British inspired toppings like slow-braised oxtail and brisket and Cornish sardines.

Without doubt the worst food I have had in London in a very, very long time. It was the sort of experience that made me want to call Channel 4 and give them a new candidate for Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
2 out of 10: one point for our attentive waitress (who was clearly accustomed to dealing with horrified diners); and one point for the look of the place, which was deceptively welcoming.
If Jamie Oliver has anything to do with this establishment then he should hang his head in shame. If he's merely farming out his name to anyone who can afford to buy it, irrespective of how shocking their 'product', then he should hang his head in shame and never raise it again.

We've been here 3 times now, first experience was great, couldn't fault it! Second and third not so great.. both visits there was a something wrong with every meal and when they were returned and came back from the kitchen there was still something wrong. We hope things improve soon as the first visit was great!

Had a meal with 8 people. 6 burnt meals. Not over done actually black burnt. I was hoping to upload a photo of some of them. I've never written a review before but the food was dire. I wouldn't put my name to it and defo not checked when going over the pass. House wine very bitter, Pinot noir was nice. Nice decor. Disappointing outing. Would not go back.

Fantastic decor, very friendly service but the food itself was distinctly average. I had some kind of imperial pie and there were no more than 2 cubes of beef. Potatoes were fine and my girlfriend's salmon ok, but we went away hungry and won't be returning.

Had a rare weekday lunch with my partner.... Ordered a Pizza and the days special (grilled fish with a white wine sauce).
The pizza arrived first but it was the wrong one, it was changed straight away without fuss, a further 20minute wait and the correct pizza arrived along with the fish dish. Pizza was hot and tasty the fish was undercooked and cold, it had stood waiting while the second pizza was prepared.
The fish was sent back but this time with some fuss, it was suggested we should have eaten it quicker!
When it came to pay the fish had been taken off the bill, as it should have been. A disappointing visit to this new eatery, a location we won't be returning too soon.

I'd held out a lot of hope for Union Jacks becoming a Chiswick High Road highlight, unfortunately it won't be without some drastic changes & improvements.
A great site for a restuarant and good decor, although they will struggle to cater for the 'pram' market of Chsiwick given the lack of storage area. I fear it will go the same way as the previous two tenants of the site.
Food was nothing special and the service, whilst extremely friendly was terrible. We waited for over 20 minutes for the third main after the others had arrived. The meals being cooked by two kitchens was repeatedly used as the reason for this. Pizza was ordinary and I'd go to Franco Manca instead. Grilled fish was incredibly greasy and this was the dish that had taken so long to arrive! From the bites menu the beets were good but the potted prawns and crab were mainly butter with a mild hint of seafood. Couldn't face waiting for pudding. Not cheap enough considering the quality & price of competitors like Cote, who win hands down.
Hopefully things improve.

Had lunch at Union Jacks and whist the surroundings are pleasant I don't think the concept is strong enough to give this restaurant longevity. The choice of pizza toppings is very limited focusing on 'English' ingredients which is not to everyone's taste. The pizza dough was excellent so why not offer one of the traditional tried and tested toppings? - if it isnt broke why mend it? Only English or French wine to choose from which do not work with Pizza and are in fact now the least popular destination wines in the UK - for good reason! Don't quite know what Jamie is trying to achieve with Union Jacks as it is neither a great pizza restaurant or great British food restaurant.

I visited Union Jacks yesterday Thur 29 March.
I must say that both the food and service were excellent, and pricing was very good value.
The concept was explained in detail by the staff, and the atmosphere was also good.
I had the Old Spot pork pizza which came with lots of crackling, my wife had the Chicken livers with onion on toast. My suggestion of serving this on a crunchy flat bread was well received by the Chef.
We will be back.
Would be good if they also accepted the Tastecard !!
