This is the fifth time I have been here and each time has been excellent. The 'five courses for £9.95' is tremendous value. I had Chicken Pakora, Chicken Madras, Nan, Rice, Poppadoms and Chutneys all for £9.95. All portions were decent sized and were excellent. As always Shar looked after us all evening. Don't waste your time with other curry houses in Brick Lane. You will also notice that Sheraz don't tout (I asked the owner and he doesn't agree with it) and they don't need to!!

Our first visit to the Sheraz Bangla lounge last night, everything was perfect, this a restaurant simple in decors, with vibarant colured walls, the food and service was excellent, we are already planning our next visit.

What three things spring to mind when you think of restaurants on Brick Lane?
1. annoying touts that pester you in the street to get you into their restaurant?
2. restaurant windows littered with dubious awards and tacky stickers?
3. bland English versions of so-called Indian food that's of poor quality?
Then think again because this restaurant actually has a policy against all three of these things. The food is great at Sheraz, the service is right up there and I spoke to the owner and he said that they make a point of not touting as its not right for them and its actually illegal.
We keep going back and won't go anywhere else on Brick Lane now. How refreshing.

It is called Bangla lounge but the food is Indian... people seem to forget bengali food and indian food is different.

My wife and I ate there at the weekend. The staff were extremely pleasant, chatty and accommodating and the restaurant itself is relatively new and clean. Properly functioning air-conditioning also helped on a humid evening.
The food was quite good, though not exceptional. As other eaters have noted, it doesn't have the depth one may look for and the flavours, though good, were simple. We started with salmon tandori which was okay; the fish was lovely and flaked evenly, though the paste had obviously not been left to marinade and permeate the flesh. Main was chicken tikka masala which was perhaps too sweet for my palate. We also had a lamb balti which was good with clean chunks of meat and no gristle etc.
All in all a good, clean Indian restaurant. Not brilliant, but far better than most.

Have eaten at various restaurants in Brick Lane over the years and have always been disappointed. So, this time, did some research and Sheraz rated fairly well. Visited on a Thursday evening. Got in OK without booking. Mixed clientele, but included some Indian diners, which was a good sign. However, I was disappointed with the food. I ordered a Xacuti, which didn't have anywhere near the depth of flavour I would expect. Rice, naan and veg side dishes were also a bit lame. Prices reasonable though, so can't complain too much. The restaurant is licensed and does a bottle of St Emilion for £13 (not a great St Emilion, but again, can't complain at the price). Of the five or so restaurants I've been to in Brick Lane, this was the best, but I think I'll pursue my quest to find some good indian food in Brick Lane and move on again next time. Incidentally, good little Fullers pub in a mews just off to the right of Brick Lane about half way up if you fancy a snifter before your curry.

Well recommended. must try this restuarant out in Brick lane. But book your table in advance otherwise be preapred to wait for tables to become free. Nice comtempory decor. Long wait for the food, but worth waiting for such good quality food and service..
