Dover Street Restaurant & Jazz Bar

Dover Street is the best place I've been to in ages...I went there last Friday and the food was great with a brilliant atmosphere, dancing and live bands and a DJ...!!
It's a whole night experience under one roof so you don't need to go on to anywhere else....If you eat in a normal restaurant you have to leave, get a cab and pay entrance to get into a club, with Dover Street you can eat and stay there and party all night!
They have a 'Spring into Summer' offer which is £25 for three courses (I had KIng Prawns and a Fillet Steak and fresh Apple Tart) and then danced all night....good fun (and the staff were friendly too!)....I strongly recommend it!

From start to finish the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the food was great (especially the Filet Steak), atmosphere was buzzing and the band were brilliant. Cant think of any other place in London which offers so much under one roof!
I have been coming here for years and have yet to be dissapointed.

Hugely disappointed! Went for a friends birthday to dine then dance. The waiter service was abysmal. The waiter kept bringing individual bills for every drink we ordered which was rather embarrassing when your eating and socialising until we asked can you just bring the drink bill at the end. Then we had to wait 20 minutes for our Irish coffees that turned up looking like normal coffee with a few coffee beans floating on top and were lukewarm. The waiter said we had to wait until the guy who made them to come back. A head waiter then came over and apologised and said they weren't right and had fresh one delivered - but why were the originals ones aloud to leave the kitchen in the first place? When the bill arrived my friend who had recently purchased a loyalty card handed over the card which the waiter didn't know anything about. The head waiter came back after the bill had been paid and said we should have handed the card over prior to payment - which we said we had to which he apologised and said the waiter had only been there 6 weeks. Not our problem. Music was OK varying to suit different customer tastes but lots of single men made it an atmosphere somewhat of a meatmarket.

Had our company X-mas meal here last night.
Was a little excited as it had been sold to us as a good exclusive london hotspot.
Entrance was good and efficient. Very friendly. Stop. Service ends. Stop.
Sillly analogy but that was how it felt. From the time i sat down i felt endebbted tot he waiters and waitresses. I believe they realy felt they were doing us a favour serving us.
The food was blatantly pre-prepared. And as such the mains were horrendous. At 50quid a head for a four course menu, my local little chef could have done better.
Asking for an espresso i was told it was too much trouble so they didnt do it.
On the plus side the band was good.....for the 10 minutes they played.
Cleaning the toilets however, was not a high priority.
Seriously.. I dont get why this place was full.

Had my daughter's 18th here , we were a group of 18 people, ranging in ages from 18,20's,30's,40,'s, also the grandparents were there and they're in their 70's!
I was nervous because I had not been there before but I wanted somewhere with good food, service and music for dancing. This fitted the bill nicely as there was a jazz band as well.It was a perfect night. The service was excellent and the waiters attended to all our needs including putting the candles on the cake and bringing it out at the right time.Everyone in the party had good things to say about the place.I'll definitely come back!

Absolutely avoid this place!! My girlfriend and I went to celebrate our anniversary and decided to check out Dover Street.
Upon arriving there the staff were discourteous and rude. The also made a mess of our reservation although as these things sometimes happen I was willing to let this one go.
The main part of the evening i.e. the meal was a real let down and although the one saving grace was the dessert.
Don't be suckered in by some of the more positive reviews posted here. I've eaten at many establishments across London and I'm sorry to say that this was one of the worst I've been to. Service had that West-End arrogance where they only want your money and treat you like cattle. The food was average.
I've spoken to colleagues that have been here and their opinions are very much the same.

I must say, Dover St Restaurant And Jazz Bar showed me a lot of attention when I arrived. Service upstairs was great and I was welcomed with smiles. I couldn't really understand one of doormen up there :) but everything went smooth and nice. I paid money to get downstairs and to be honest i expected same service as I got from staff at reception.
Bars were really busy and I litteraly had to squeeze to get to the barman. When I finally did get there one of barmen welcomed me with very unpolite face and his first question was: "What do you want?" Not nice. I chose my drink and went to get something to eat. And again nice service from security guy. He offered me a nice table where I was very surprised about the age of one waitress. I mean I never seen so old waitress in my life. And she was absolutely not polite. Her voice could wake the dead. I did not complain I wanted to enjoy my evening and truly i thought i was gonna.
I ordered a gravadlax. Looked pretty poor for the money I had to pay for it. And it was really salty. I drank plenty of water while trying to enjoy it. For the main course I asked for a chicken and it was dreadful! Wasn't hot enough and it looked like it was frozen before. Vegetables were cold and sauce was water-like. I was very disapointed.
One thing dragged my attention. Who was that small person walking around the restaurant, singing, dancing, making silly face all the time and trying to play someone important there? He wasn't a manager was he?

during the early hours of the evening piano music was heard while we were eating our dinner. it was not nothing exceptional but it was ok.
the place felt nice. cozy, arty, warm yet modern and relaxing.
the restaurant its in open place with the dance floor and bars.
so it felt a bit like dining in the night club kind of thing:)
no long after our dinner live band arrived (not sure about the time it was about 4 years ago) and great party started.
its nice place for drink and dance. it has i think few bars and its farily big.
if i remember correctly i think u had to pay entry fee unless u eat at the restaurant.
i enjoyed the overall experience because we stayed for the disco part too, otherwise it would be just ok dinner in nice jazzy relaxing disco club/restaurant.
i would like to go again!

I had read the previous reviews and in particular the remarks about the staff being rude and unhelpful. I was prepared for this but what I wasn't prepared for was the fact that they were exceptionally helpful, polite and friendly. My friend dropped her fork on the floor and before she'd had a chance to pick it up a fresh one was on the table. The service was fast without pressurising us. We only had our table booked until 10.00 but, without asking, they offered to move us to a table where we could stay until 11.00. I can't fault them at all. The Empire State Band were playing the night we were there and they were excellent. I defy anyone to not get up and dance. There was a real party atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having fun. The disco was very good to. Lots of Jazz Funk Soul etc. We had a really good night.

DO NOT go to this place if what you are expecting is a nice civilised meal. This is not the place to go if you want nice food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere! Upon arrival we were suitably impressed, a helpful waiter helped us choose our meals and wine from the menus. Our starters arrived and there were nice enough. Then it started, we found that we were seated in the middle of 5 large groups of girls on hen nights! We could not hear ourselves speak over the noise (not music!) never mind the person sat across from you! Our main course arrived and what can only be decribed as a frozen chicken kiev and hard potatoes - not what you expect for £17.00! Needless to say we were not impressed. We complained to the manager who just removed our plates and walked off - probably because he could not hear what we were saying due to all the noise!! We requested that the waitress bring the manager back over, he eventually came back where due to his response (shrugged shoulders - again possibly because he couldnt hear us!) we left without paying our bill.
There was probably only 3 men in the entire place, the women looked like they were all on hen parties. If you are looking for a good laugh with your girl friends and are not too bothered about the standard of the food then this is the place for you, im sure you'd have a fab time. If you are looking for a place to have a nice meal with your loved ones and to enjoy some live music then forget it!
Unfortunately I can not comment on the live music as we didnt stay long enough - mind you you probably wouldnt be able to hear it anyway!!!!
