Just came back from the Bar. Terrible night, no jazz music, but commercial.

Very disappointed. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Last night which was a saturday night we really enjoyed at dover street restaurant. The reseptionist girl was extremely rude and arrogant, the starters was below the quality of the standards, and was very basic, and the main menu was not great.

However, you know, when you have a good company and after few drinks everything was ok :))

I have to say the bar and the cocktails was very good indeed .

In overall i may go back for a drink but if you want to impress someone, its not the best place i am afraid...

I have been a few times to Dover Street wine bar, and can honestly say that on each visit I and my friends have had a great time. Our company have used this venue for our staff Christmas Party for the past couple of years and we have all had a great night with fantastic service.

My last visit was a birthday supper a few weeks ago with some girlfriends. We went for the three courses from their A La Carte menu for £29.95 inclusive of VAT and music cover charge. After reading the reviews below I did wonder if they were talking about the same venue. Our food was fantastic I had the Sauteed King Prawns, Scallops and a Crab claw in a champagne and lime green pepper sauce, served with mashed potatoes and a mixed leaf side salad - it was to die for...... mmmmm, and the service was spot on. My guests all enjoyed their food and there was more than enough to sate our appetites.

We did go early in the evening as we wanted to have a girly gossip before the music started and a thoroughly pleasant night was enjoyed by all. Two of my girlfriends had never been before and came back to me the next day to say what a wonderful evening they had had and when could we go back again.

DON'T EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. I have been here twice in my life. First was twelve years ago for a friend's 21st birthday. Despite taking 30+ seats at the restaurant, my friend's father (who was paying for the whole thing) and brother were thrown out and treated like dirt by the bouncers.

Last night I returned, paid my extortionate entry fee, and had a few drinks at the bar. Popping outside for a cigarette, I was refused entry back in by one of the most surly bouncers I have ever encountered (generally they get a bad rap but do a decent job) who claimed that he had already thrown me out. Seriously. I was not the guy you had previously thrown out.

So to my doppelganger causing trouble in restaurants, please desist. To this place, it may have been mistaken identity, but you don't have to be so rude about it.

I have never felt passionate enough to write on a forum like this before, but this place was SO bad it deserves to be spread around.

Dover St - went Sat night 05/02/11 - had a really good night. Music by Blunder boys fantastic. Yes, commercially they are precious about keeping the best seats for customers who are eating even when the table is unoccupied.

Cocktails were lovely reccomend the Long island tea. DJ played cool music. Overall a good night out and not too expensive.

My husband and I booked a table at Dover Street after the act we wanted to see at Ronnie Scotts cancelled. All I can say is, never again. Despite an advance booking we got stuck on a grotty little table next to the service entrance. The food was mediocre and overpriced and the waitress 'forgot' to deduct the £30.00 desposit we had already paid from the bill. We didn't stay for the music - couldn't wait to leave.

Well, despite many bad reviews i've seen on internet about this place, i fancied a live music jazz diner for new year's eve so, we decided to book a table for 6. I was very worried because of all reviews saying bad things about rude staff, bad food etc... (we paid £80 each for 3 course meal)

I don't really know if we were lucky that night or if people's expectations are bloody high when they go out but i had a really great night ! The staff was absolutely fine, polite fast and helpful, obviously in the rush and not there to make friends that's it.

My cocktail was on the table within 2 minutes, orders taken within 10 min, staters there before i came back from the toilets !

New year's menu was scallops or prawns, then steak or fish, and mousse au chocolat or cheesecake. One of my friend had asparagus (veg option) I''ve tasted everything and everything was absolutely lovely (scallops sauce is heaven) . The steak was a generous piece, well prepered with nice mushrooms and potatoes. really nice. desert lovely too, not the best cheesecake ever but totally acceptable.

Live music really enjoyable during the whole meal, didn't wait for anything, had nice crackers, everything was good.

People's reviews was so bad that i wanted to write my own to encourage people to go there as i think "only unhappy people come back to write a review cause they are frustrated by their bad night" Anyway, i don't know about the normal menu, but new year's eve one was a succes for us xx hope you have a nice one too !

We had a works christmas party here.

At £50 for a turkey dinner I was expecting food at least approaching Michelin star quality. Alas I was disappointed. The food would not poison you by any means but a luke warm 2 slices of turkey accompanied by Ordinary Roast Potatoes (2 in total by the way) and a couple of brussels, carrots and Cauliflower which were soft i.e. overcooked, did not inspire the palate. I would love to rave about the fantastic dessert. Unfortunately I and quite a few others in my party did not actually get any!

There was a queue outside so naturally it must be a great atmosphere and Hospitality that is locally revered? Erm no... front of house staff were quite rude and not very helpful at all and the clientele were a bit weird.

So the music must have been good? - well yes it was fine but no better than any other establishment in London or elsewhere in the UK and with beer approaching £ 12 a pint I did not get a good chance to make a drunken fool of myself on the dance floor.

Luckily I did not have to pay for all this but needless to say I certainly would never form part of that queue that actually pays to get in.

when I did manage to get in to this restaurant/club,the food is mediocre and not worth all the hassle.

It can be fun dancing to old club tunes, But to get inside, you have to on the wrong side of 50 and blonde if you're a woman and then you get hassled by geriatric oldies.
