I used to live in West Hampstead area but moved out. Banana Tree was one my favourite restaurant back then. Was there every sunday for my lunch and ocasionally during the week.Food was amazing and service outstanding.Unfortunately it changed a lot since then.Just visited my friend in North London and I've invited him to (what I,ve remembered) great Asian restaurant.Very dissapointed from the beginning.Noone to take our orders or bring us beers...Food was very oily and salty.Lamb curry which was my favourite and loved dish tasted awfull!Meat was so hard I couldn't even chew it.Not as I remember. My friend 's noodles were burned. After that we had to request our bill 3 times as staff was to busy chatting and having fun by the counter!!
Felt bad beacause I was really looking forward to that dinner.I don't understand what happend with this place...How can a restaurant change so much within a year??Not sure if will be coming back...

I have been there on a wednesday night and i loved my whole evening in the restaurant. the restaurant staff is very quick, very sensible and friendly. There was a tall guy who i suppose is in charge was making sure things were going well in the restaurant. The food was excellent specially the spring rolls and moneybags. the best i should say.very reasonable and tasty food.my only dislikes were the noise level and sharing table. i will surely recommend my friends and my favorite spot in west hampstead.cheers ..................

Didn't like anything about the place.Since the beggining everything went wrong...They gave us a table which wasn't wiped properly, sticky marks were all over...Our beers weren't cold enough...Food was awful. We didn't even eat 1/4 of it and waiter who cleared our table didn't even bother to ask if there was something wrong with dishes. In the end the've added 10% service charge to the bill!Seriously!!Not worth it!

Slow and incompetente service. Took us ages to place an order. Staff doesn't have any knowlege about food they serve! Dishes were horrible. Tasted like cheap preheated ready meals!!
Won't be coming back!

I feel inclined to write this review simply because they deserve to be praised. I live locally and this has been my regular dining room for the past year since they opened. Their food is spot on and the servers are always friendly. An absolute must order is their Laksa, simply the best in London. Their Lamb curry is also yummilicious!!! Not to be missed!

The service was decent. The food was not.
Everything had a pre-prepared taste and feel to it. The rice was starchy and unpleasant and the teriyaki sauce tasted like it could have been Uncle Ben’s.
I won’t be re-visiting.
