The food is always fabulous - the service not. On a visit this week we enquired politely as to when our food might arrive as we had been waiting for over 25 minutes... the manager/supervisor rudely told us, "Sit down. Your food is coming!"
We left immediately as we did not want to pay to be verbally assaulted.

Since moving to West Hampstead recently, my boyfriend and I have been coming here on nearly a weekly basis for both lunch and dinner. This canteeny restaurant seem to hit all our buttons. The food is always yummmylicious, the atmosphere and service relaxed and laid back and they also do a happy hour deal which I often order from when I'm around for lunch.....usually when I throw a sicky from work, like today!!! Highly recommended.

The food was all right but I have had better around London for this variety of food.
The service is awful though. The staff is really rude, and it took a long time for them to serve us. We literally had to go and get a waiter to be served.
The atmosphere in the place is terrible. It is really loud and I had to yell across the table for my partner to hear me. It was really hot as well: A person I was with ordered mild dishes and was still sweating because of the temperature. It might be because it was crowded.
I'd go somewhere else if I was you.

Ate in here the other night. We were served by a gorgeous young lady with green eyes and blonde hair. She was so smily and helpful and really made our night.
Would definitely eat there again. Try the Chicken Laksa.

I discovered this restaurant last year and had the Chicken Laksa...
...needless to say, i have been going back ever since and can't fine one restaurant that satisfies my hunger the way this one does! Exceptional food, great friendly service and good value for money!

I recently ate here for the 2nd time, and as with the 1st visit, the food was excellent. An interesting, appetising menu including well thought-out starters, lots of powerful flavours, good service and tables outside in the warm weather.
Enjoyed a refreshing, vibrant starter of salad with herbs and lightly battered fish fillet - splendid, then a savoury, satisfying main with king prawns in a dark, soy-based sauce. Prawns are often a good tester of quality, and these were fresh, fleshy, and perfectly (lightly) cooked.
A healthy fruit & veg juice blend and a pleasing Pinot Grigio added to the fun, and I look forward to my next trip as there are many options on the menu I am keen to try.
This place is always busy and it's easy to see why.
Nice one, Banana Tree!

Visited on Friday 11 June - table for 5 was engineered by politely requesting couples if they would consider moving and they happily obliged. A splendid French waitress from Calais appeared immediately with the drinks list which we browsed for at least 2 minutes and within 5 minutes liquid refreshment was on the table - fantastic!
Although there was a queue at the door we were not rushed in making our selection from the menu and water glasses were quietly topped up by our attentive waitress. Despite a full house, our starters arrived quickly and were delicious. We then ordered main courses without being hurried along despite the queue and these were tasty and delicious too.
We were too full to order desserts and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. No complaints apart from the Sauvignon Blanc which was unpleasantly acid so we switched to Rose. We consumed a total of 4 bottles of wine, endless glasses of cold tap water, five starters, five main courses, two baskets of prawn crackers and with first class service, included in our bill, the total was £160 - great value.
