I've been to Pham on numerous occasions over the past 7-8 years and the place has never ever disappointed.

The Scallops in a Spicy creamy sauce are to die for.

The Crispy Tuna Rolls are the nearest thing to Willy Wonka Japanese food you'll ever taste.

The White tuna with asparagus in the Chef's special sauce rocks!

As do the Tempura Rock Shrimp and Baby Squid tentacles....and definitely try the Clear Soup.

But do book, it's small and it gets busy

i have heard good thing about Pham sushi many times, i was curious but never went as i always go to the other one LIFE round the corner from them. today i ordered delivery for the first time as other one don't deliver. the telephone manner was good & efficient, my order arrives in 30 min like they told me. the sushi looked good and was a big portion too. i was so hungry anything would taste amazing....

but something is not right. i can't describe it, its not that its horrible but it doesn't have the thing that you go hmmmmm for. its just not yummy. sorry but bit disappointed. i know all my friends love them. was it just a bad day? or it might help to be japanese to have sushi restaurant?

Went last month with girlfriend and was very impressed.

It is more of a cafe visually, so not amazing for a special occasion, but serves some of the best sushi ive had in London at decent prices.

We had good old edamame beans to start, followed by chicken skewers (these weren't bad, not amazing) and a sweet aubergine dish. These weren't bad, but its was all about the sushimi salad and the sushi rolls. Crispy tuna roll is essential (their 'famous' dish).

Spicy samon was great too, I forget what else we had but it was all extremely fresh & masterfully crafted by the chef (who knocked out perfect plates of sushi at an incredible rate!)

Next time I would get sushi / sashimi only and forget the other dishes.

Highly recommended.

Don't be put off by its diminutive size or out of the way location. Or very reasonable prices. This is actually one of the finest Japanese restaurants in Britain. You must try the crunchy tuna roll - and scallops in creamy sauce. But really everything is good. It feels a little cafe-like, and the decor is not lush, but you won't get a better meal in London unless you spend an additional £100 a head.

Went for my girlfriends birthday. Was left waiting over 45 minutes between starter and main course. This would be unacceptable at the best of times, but when waiting you'd expect at least an apology or a discount. Neither was forthcoming.

After 30 minutes waiting I asked how much longer the food would be, to be told "It's just coming now". After 40 minutes I asked again, and the waitress simply blanked me.

Eventually the food was brought out. It was ok, but barely worth the price and certainly not worth the wait.

At the end I was amazed that they had the cheek to charge me full price AND add on an automated service charge. The clincher was when I told them I wasn't happy with the service, so was unwilling to pay service.

Off the waitress went to make me up another bill, and when she came back the price of the food had gone up by £4... What had cost £50 moments before had gone up to around £54. Honest mistake? Who knows. I won't be going back to find out if this is standard practice at this particular restaurant.

Rude, incompetent staff. Average sushi.

Great service, lovely food, and good environment -- no pretense or pomp as is so often the case with trendy London Asian restaurants.

Go for a bento box -- sushi was fresh and the beef was beautiful.

Gourmet Chick - 8/10

Thursday, October 23, 2008 - As Miso Cod is to Nobu and Snail Porridge is to The Fat Duck so Crunchy Tuna Rolls are to Pham Sushi. You simply cannot come to Pham Sushi without eating the Crunchy Tuna Rolls (pictured). I eat here all the time and I find it physically impossible to leave them off my order. The secret is that the tuna that tops the rolls is lightly seared so that it has a slight crunch to it. It is a fabulous counterpoint to the sticky sushi rice and whoever thought of it was clearly a genius.
