there is so many french restaurant or so many that pretend to be and have a poor service, so when you fall on a good one you stick to it, that's the case with Le troquet, what an amazing and charming place (newly decorated apparently) the manager welcome us with a "mise en bouche" (hope my spelling is right) a duck rillette (home made as the owner apparently is the same owner as Mr duck delicacy a company that does foie gras, pate and other amazing things) we had the foie gras and must say one of the best I ever had (even in france) then follow by a sea bass en papillotte and a steak tartar ! the fish was very well cooked and seasoned and so the tartar (you need to experience that really) we also had dessert, a tart tatin and a chocolate fondant to die for, the manager/waiter gave us very good advice on the wine and has been a fantastic host always making sure we were ok and that everything was up to standards ! what a lovely evening we had, the crowd was very mixed and everybody seems to enjoy they're food ! I will recommend this place to all my friends , if your around Chelsea (world end next to Vivienne Westwood shop) go a head, value for money, nicely decorated charming place and professional people !

We went here as part of a Groupon deal. The starters were good - we both had the foie gras. But then it went really downhill. Duck confit was both greasy and dry, and the side of green beans with garlic had been microwaved and tasted of plastic. Given that we paid 50 all in, it was OK. The venue was being renovated while we ate, but there was noisy building works. It's small and underground but we got an area to ourselves
The waiter introduced himself as the 'worst waiter in London', because he was covering for a friend. He forgot the side, late on the water and was too chatty. But, it's not his day job!
But the full price was 90 - which I would not have paid..

Le Troquet is a french bistro at the World End Kings Road. The ambience and atmosphere was like being in restaurant in Paris but based in London. The place was intimate and peaceful, and you could see the other clients buzzing with joy. I started off with a nice glass of red and as a starter, I had one of the best onion soups ever. I followed that up with the lobster which was well presented and delicious.I then went to the bar side to have a digestif and enjoyed watching the game of football that was playing. After this evening, I felt that i was straight away comfortable and had the felling that it felt like a second home and all for good value for money. I definitely recommend the Troquet and I will be back with family and friends.
