This restaurant is great! Whenever mt wife, myself, my friends have a special occasion we go here. The people who own it really get involved - they love it! A true Islington gem. I've never felt so comfortable arranging 20 people to eat and know we will be so well looked after! Amazing place!

I ate at Sabor with my husband and we had an amazing meal. The sevrice was impeccable and the food was amazing. We were a little late seated to our table and the maitre de insisted that we had all of our cocktails on the house, Whilst certailny not a regular, I'm slowly working my way through most of London's starred restaurants, and this one ranks up there with the best of them in my view!

This is a fantastic restaurant to where I have eaten 3 times. The food is a mixture of different South American dishes, and is absolutely delicious. The service is efficient and fresh juices etc are very good.

I must admit that I was very disapointed with the quality of the food. I ordered red snapper cooked in a banana leaf, When it arrived the fish was so over cookedd and dry that it was inedible. The waitress took it back the kitchen and returned to tell me that the chef had said that "that was how it supposed to be cooked. I was however invited to choose an alternate dish from the menu and that was OK but not great.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed Sabor. This restaurant is a culinary experience not to be missed. The starters were excellent, and the Salt Cod is quite possibly the best starter I have ever sampled. The Coriander Chorizo is also quite simply amazing.. Onto the drinks and the Passion fruit Marguerita is to die for!! No other cocktail can come near it, and believe me, I have tried many. The service in Sabor is attentive, but not overbearing and it comes with a genuine smile. To summarise this restaurant is the hidden gem of Islington and offers the best Nuevo Latino
in the capital.

Had a great meal here on Thursday evening. My friend and I weren't fantastically hungry to start with but still couldn't resist three courses, even though the tuna (which we both chose for the main course) was a huge portion - grilled with a crunchy cumin topping but still nice and pink inside. Desserts were lighter - mine was a perfect merengue with raspberries, just right for the hot weather.

Sabor is fabulous local restaurant with wonderful food, delightful service and imaginative and well priced wine list. A real reminder of South America where I lived for two years. The ceviche was great, rabbit with chocolate sauce just out of this world and the Alfajores with coffee ice cream delicious. Can't wait to return.

I went to this restaurant with my better half to introduce her to some fine latin cuisine. We were not dissapointed the food was excellnet and so was the service. My main problem with the place are the table and chairs and the sound of the place.
The table and chairs are very uncomfortable for those who are either tall or Stocky and the table to small if you having dinner with a bottle of wine, water, basket of bread.
The table felt too cluttered which added to the whole discomfort. Please don't get me wrong i found the staff very freindly and helpfull and the food was fantastic. We had the Empanadas and steak which were spot on.
The other problem i have is that due to the interior design of the place i found that the sound in htere awful and by that i maent the sound literally bounces of the surface and keeps on bouncing anyone who works in music will understand only too well what i mean and the other problem was the music. The speakers are far too small so htey are forced to play the music fairly loud but as it's the wrong size all you seem to get is people shouting ovet the top and unable to hear the fine music which Latin America has to offer.
My suggestions are simple really as i would love to go back but will not due to the lack comfort.
Invest in a better sound system enabling to play at a lower volume while still being able to hear it clearly rather than everything getting lost and maybe put some drapes up to dampen the sound. And get tables with proper legs so i can get mine under the table.
But having said that. Great wine list, great food as well as the service.
Going to a restaurant should be an experiecne which incorporates not only the food but ambiance and comfort as well as auraly and visually. Oh great cocktails too.
So if you are tall, overweight or just plain big avoid this place or see if they do take outs as it's too uncomftable. for the rest it's almost perfect.

After calling this restaurant and speaking to the charming and enthusiastic manager, I decided to come here with my husband for Valentine's Day. The food didn't disappoint. The chef created a special five course menu (for the bargain price of £25), which included the most delicious avocado soup I have ever tasted. When I arrived the place was packed – this restaurant is obviously popular with the Essex Road locals. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail, a sublime passion fruit margarita with just the right amount of sweetness and acidity to make it near perfect, whilst waiting for my husband. Unusually we both went for the same starter and main: empanadas (with three different fillings) and red snapper wrapped in a banana leaf, served with a coconut sauce. Both courses were creative, tasty and just right for a Valentine’s meal. In between courses, we also enjoyed a citrus-flavoured sorbet, which again was superb. I only have two minor complaints to make about this restaurant. When I arrived I noticed our table was near the window, so I asked to be moved somewhere warmer, perhaps nearer the kitchen. As it was Valentine’s Day and the staff had a strict table plan, I understand why they were not able to accommodate me – but had they done so I would have extremely impressed. In addition, beware of the slightly slow service, although the staff were very apologetic about this and again, given the circumstances, it is perhaps understandable. Ironically, on any other day, this restaurant seems to be even more romantic, as there are not as many tables squeezed together. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to sample modern, inventive and hearty South American food in a buzzy, friendly and unpretentious environment. A special mention should go to the fact that we were not given a time limit on our table and rushed off as soon as we had eaten (my pet hate).
