Friends recommended Sosta and so I went there for a romantic meal with my boyfriend to welcome him back after a work trip abroad.

We ordered from the set menu (i chose taglietelle followed by lamb) and both requested some soft drinks. While we looked forward to our drinks and meal, the waiter came back to our table 3 times to change the cutlery. I have no idea why he did this but anyway, the soft drinks did not arrive for half an hour and the starters were very salty. The main courses were similarly salty, both the meat and vegetables, and so by the time it came to the dessert we chose not to have one, preferring to go home and gulp down water to dilute the salt. We explained to the waiter why we had both left so much food and how salty we found it. He refused to reduce the total cost of the set menu even though we had not had the dessert and he entered into an argument about how much food had been left. He initiated a stand-up argument with us, claiming that we had not in fact left any food and that it was not salty. Surely a peculiar thing to do in front of a room full of customers. I will never return.

Whenever we have been to this restaurant with my boyfriend's parents, we have sat in the front room of the restaurant and eaten good food and experienced good service. Last Friday, my boyfriend and I went alone hoping for a romantic evening. Despite booking in advance and the fact that the place was not full, we were plonked in the too-brightly lit, back-room where we were largely ignored by the staff.

We both ordered al la carte, expecting better sized portions, as the prices are much higher than the set menu (and probably too high for a neighbourhood restaurant in Crouch End).

My boyfriend's ravioli starter consisted of ONE large piece of ravioli, which while tasty was a rip-off at approximtely £7. His sea bass main course was truly dreadful being a small, freezer-dried, deep fried fillet with 70's garnish of lettuce leaf and cucumber slice and a few fatty, recooked potatoes. My swordfish carpaccio was nice and my pasta main was fine, though nothing special.

The wine was spectacularly bad.

All in all, overpriced and disappointing, not least as this place used to be a very good bet for reasonably priced, high quality Italian food.

Good value local restaurant with friendly service on the whole. OK so it's not Locanda Locatelli but for the price it's pretty good.

Honestly i can not blame the people who are complaining but one thing comes into mind, that people do eventually make mistakes. My trip to Sosta was outstanding, Im a regular, i love the food, the service and even better the desert! I would really recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice night out with wine and beautifully presented food, i guarantee that if every customer of Sosta was to comment... there would be more posistive than negative points, 10/10!

My partner and I go to this restaurant a lot. Usually it is very good but our experience last weekend was not. My asparagus soup starter was thin and tasteless. My main of sea bass wasnt well cooked and the side dish of ? roast potatoes was mushy and looked like the overcooked scrapings from the bottom of the pot. My partners prawns were rubbery and undercooked. What a pity as I can usually recommend La Sosta. I'll be giving it a miss for a while. On the plus side the waiting staff are charming and courteous.

Went to this restaurant a couple of years ago with a group of friends and had a decent, unpretentious meal - what you'd expect from an unpretentious restaurant. The manager and staff were polite and appropriately attentive. We had been meaning to return since then and we eventually did for Sunday lunch. The waiter brought toasted ciabatta and foccacia to the table with oil and vinegar. The ciabatta was stale. No toasting could disguise that. My partner ordered off the set menu and his meal was OK. I ordered off the main menu. The quality of my food was poor. The mushroom risotto tasted odd. My partner thought it tasted a bit curry-like. The monkfish main course smelt awful. It could have been the sauce it was drowned in, but it was off-putting all the same. I could not eat it. Some of the baked/fried (hard to tell) potatoes served up as a side dish were old. Could they have been serving food that was past its best? I did not bother with dessert.

A wonderful little Italian place! The space is nice, smokers are kept away from the rest of us, which means you can actually taste the food. The waiters are friendly and attentive, and the food is absolutely superb. None of the people I went with had any complaints about anything. It's also really good value for money.

I will most definitely come back - I must taste that Tiramisu again!

I was very satisfied with this restaurant, it is very authentic, has a great atmosphere and extremely good value for money. I am a regular customer and i would recommend La sosta to anyone who is looking for good quality food with a welcoming group of waiters and waitresses. It is always full of regular customers, this is definitely a good sign!

I took my partner here for his birthday as a surprise and I was extremely disappointed. Although the service was very friendly and the waiters were really trying to make sure we have a good experience, nothing could make up for the bad quality steaks that were completely well done although we asked for it to be medium cooked. It was completely tasteless. The starters were very average and after being disappointed so badly with the main course we did not even want to try out the dessert menu. Coffee was great but nothing makes up for a bad steak.
