What can I say? I was staying in the Docklands with my girlfriend and it was raining and didn't want to venture far, when we came across an expensive looking Indian restaurant. We thought we would give it a go as it was raining and late, money really wasn't the first thing on our mind as our stomachs were doing the talking. I love a great curry and have been to many good restaurants, therefore this place looked expensive and I hoped the food would live up to the looks. We sat down after a friendly welcome and inspected the menu, the first shock was the price of the dishes, they were so CHEAP for where we were, about £6 average for a main dish. Then we looked at all the sides and starters, they were equally as cheap. When I say cheap i mean for London and the heart of the Docklands where they're probably used to serving Stock Brokers and other suited individuals with money at their fingertips. So we ordered an also reasonably priced Chilean Merlot which ended up complimenting the meal very nicely. The service was friendly and frequent throughout. I ordered a Lamb Korai and my girlfriend ordered a Lamb Pasanda a big difference in dishes but we both agreed that it was the best curry we had tasted. Just enough rice was served and the naan bread was a perfect size. After the meal we were both grinning with a full but satisfied feeling, we had just had the best curry so far in our lives. To finish off the meal we ordered a few after dinner spirits and as we were about to ask for the bill, we were shocked to see the already friendly and excellent service improve tenfold; they asked if we wanted complimentary drinks, well we certainly didn't decline their generous offer. When we finally received the bill after a great night of excellent food and drink we were surprised to see it only come to £50. An excellent meal for two for £50 in the heart of the Docklands, unbelievable. But yes it's true and it's worth travelling to the Bengal Quay even if you are not based in the Docklands, it is that good. So thank you to the Bengal Quay and their staff for giving us an excellent night of fine food and drink. 10 out of 10, no doubt.

The Bengal Quay is by far the best Indian Restaurant I have ever been to. The food is delicious and both the restaurant and take away service are excellent. The value for money, friendly atmosphere and frankly quite scrummy pappadums, mean that you should ignore the fact that it is slightly out of the way and give it a go!!!

Excellent restaurant. Good value, service, glad to see standard menu together with new exciting specialities. I thought more of this place than cinnamon club and it is hot on the heals of Veeraswamy or Cafe Spice Namaste. If this place continues to listen to it's customers and evolve with consistent standards of food and service, this could be a contender. Service was excellent from one waiter and not so the second, consistency key but highly recommended, really enjoyed the food, and drink.

A large, modern restaurant where you're treated to a warm welcome. Staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating to individual requests. Classical music is played in the background rather than the predictable Bollywood-style tunes and this was a refreshing change.
I was somewhat disappointed that the only vegetarian options were biriani or side dishes, but as I wasn't made to feel awkward about asking for a veggie version of another other dishes that wasn't a problem.
All the food that came to our table was attractively presented and looked/smelled absolutely delicious.
My curry was too hot for my conservative taste (probably my fault as I didn't ask for a mild version), but the waiter immediately offered to make me another and was keen to see that I enjoyed my meal.
Definitely a step up from the usual Indian restaurant, which means I'll be going again.
