NO-ONE seems to mention that this restaurant is placed in the vicinity of a particularly notorious council estate-this might seem irrelevant if you're particularly good at handling yourself or find parking close to the restaurant-but don't wander too far-or your car may feel the consequences! Nearby is the Hilton and an Audi dealership but the restaurant itself is a little complicated to approach - needless to say 2 car parks and several stair-cases later we managed to reach a restaurant that we were only ever 10 metres away in the first place.

What's also not described is the proximity of the dockland light railway line-if you like vibrations and plenty of noise-this is right up your alley!

The food, however, more than adequately made up for the shortfalls in the location - particularly the Chicken Hariali - which is actually Thai Green Chicken Curry in disguise. Also their Chicken Tikka Biryani is amazing! The keema naan is only flat meat in a naan and not minced as the name keema would indicate. The Bengal Tiger Fish is the only bland item on the menu, whist the starters are to die for. The Bengal Quay Chicken involves Sambucca which is flamed off in front of you and has a very novel taste but is more than edible. The only real issue with the menu is that inscribed within they recommend food by what "Jennifer Ellison" likes.

Prices are affordable but their staff are a tad bit slow to say the least - although their manager is their own saving grace - if like in our scenario they fail to attend to you, forget your order - he sweet talks you out of leaving or getting angry!

Prior to arriving I attempted to get directions from one member of the staff on the phone-unfortunately he did not know where it was situated and worse still couldn't say much more than "hello", so i wondered why he should be allowed to answer the phone.

Having said that the only real issues i have with Bengal Quay is the location and the lack of service, the restaurant was predominantly empty which is a bad sign, but the waiters were impudent, arrogant and not too smart-with a terrible grasp of the English language.

We had to order certain items several times with several different waiters in order to receive any food, drinks or even water. One waiter in particular agreed to take our order then slouched off and avoided us at every conceiveable instance.

The main meals were quite tasty, but the silence at the venue was interuptted repeatedly and with a certain regularity by the sound and the vibrations of overhead passing trains. This may sound peculiar, but bear in mind that although in a relatively secluded part of Canary Wharf, a train line passes directly above the restaurant-which explains why certain paintings are hanging at odd angles.

This all contributes in the explanation as to why the price of the food which is very reasonable-but not cheap. Don't be misled into believing that they give the food away- you only get what you pay for in this life!!!

They do not serve Asian deserts-only ice creams, apparently due to a lack of appeal with their target market.

All in all a very surreal experience, with its fair share of ups and downs. Go there if you need a talking point-it makes for an interesting story!!!!!!

A lovely restauent for any occasion. The staff were lovely as well. The restaurent has very contemporary interior which adds more to the atmosphere. Brilliant!

This place needs to be shouted about. My partner and I visited on a Saturday evening and were not disappointed. I will agree with the other reviews in that this restaurant is oddly-placed, away from the central buzz of Canary Wharf. However, on talking to the staff this would not seem to be a problem for them with their Friday nights routinely seeing just about every table occupied.

The food and service are second to none. This is *the* team. They work flawlessly. And enough people have commented on the standard of the food, there's little point repeating it.

I've dropped Atmosphere to 8 because it is right next to the DLR (practically under the track). While this was a novelty at first, it did start to get a little long in the tooth towards the end. But not enough to spoil the evening.

This restaurant is definitely on my shortlist.

Fantastic food and great service! The location is a little unusual, but it is the best curry on the isle and definitely worth a visit. I've taken many friends to Bengal Quay since I've lived in the area and they've all loved it.

We went to the Bengal Quay last Thursday for a meal. The food and service was outstanding, definitely the best curry I have tasted. We couldn't believe how reasonable it was too, £24 p/person with a few glasses of wine each. We will be going there again, as soon as possible!

I recently had my Engagement Party at The Bengal Quay. All of my 104 guests had a wonderful time, the food was superb and the service was great too. Thank you to Farooq (the manager) for all your assistance in making my party memorable. BTW Everyone loved the King Prawn Madras -give it a try, it's to die for!
