A "real" italian restaurant offering a wonderful selection of fine traditional dishes and meats. We had been searching for a decent restaurant that doesn't cost the earth and Fabrizio delivers. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food excellent and the bill, though not cheap, was more in line with a suburban restaurant than one in central London - around £80 for three courses each, coffees, two large liqueurs and a bottle of wine. We will be back!

Fantastic food, great portions, good value for money and friendly service - you really couldn't ask for much more from this little Italian place on St Cross Street in the heart of Hatton Gardens. The Crab and Mascarporne Ravioli was freshly home-made, and the Cod fillet with white wine and rosemary sauce with sauteed fennel was simply delicious. Well well worth a visit.

Had lunch at Fabrizio today (19th June 08) with 2 friends. First time any of us had been there. Staff very friendly. House red wine (a Nero d'Avola) very good at £12.50 a bottle and tap water brought without any fuss. We shared a tomato and onion salad to start as we weren't that hungry and our main course pastas were great. I had penne with cherry tomatoes, chili and oil (like an Arabiatta). Excellent. Pasta al dente and all our food was hot. Coffees (espressos) excellent. Total bill for three with service was £47, which we though was reasonable. I shall go back one evening with my husband as we are an Italian family and there aren't that many good Italians in London that we know of. We would recommend this one. Best to reserve a table as when we were there it was packed.

I went here on a quiet Monday evening with a friend and neither of us were disappointed either with the food or the charming service. It was tremendously good value not least because the portions were so generous. I had fried scampi with lentls as a delicious starter and it barely left me with enough room for the tortelone pasta stuffed with courgettes and prawns and finished with a creamy rocket and pesto sauce. My only slight complaint would be that the lentils were decidedly warmer in the middle than on the periphery which made wonder if a microwave had been used.

By the time we left, quite a few customers had turned up and it was entertaining to watch them speak in Italian then answer their mobile phone in broad Glaswegian. Entertaining and a good sign: when natives eat here you must be on a winner. Would definitely visit again.

my husband and i visited fabrizio the night before our wedding on the strength of the reviews below. we were staying in hoxton and wanted somewhere relatively close, quiet and tasty. i have to say we were not in the least bit disappointed!

when we found the restaurant the rain was pouring and the streets were deserted. there was only one other person in there (it was a weekday night). we were slightly worried but then the lovely waitress came out and talked us throught the food lovingly and had us drooling!

the food really lived up to our expectations. i had a mozarella and cherry tomato salad - sounds boring but it was the tastiest buffalo mozarella i have ever eaten. also, it was a whole mozarella! i then had tagliata, the meat was juicy and tender and very tasty. we had to share a pudding as we were so full - a delicious chocolate mousse. we are planning to go back for our first anniversary!

I went there with two friends having just come back from two weeks in Tuscany.

The food is without doubt the best Italian I have had in London and I have tried most of them. The fact that it is all prepared and cooked by Fabrizio who also takes care to source the best ingredients sets it apart form its peers.

Its that good I will be taking the wife there next week!

Went for lunch.Friendly staff;generous portions of well-thought out Italian food;interesting wine list with reasonable mark-ups-the owner/chef was welcoming and helpful. The prices very reasonable for quality cuisine.

An oasis in a neighbourhood dominated by deep-fried/fast-food emporia.

Went there last night. Very friendly atmosphere and obviously used by locals. The food was good - imaginative Italian without being over fussy - and there was plenty of it. I will certainly go again and work try some of the other things on the menu. Starter and main with shared desert (cracking home made tiramisu), coffee and a bottle of decent wine came to £40 a head. Complimentary Sicilian liqueurs (cinnamon and mandarin) topped the evening off most delightfully.
