Duke of Cambridge (Battersea)

I agree with Charlie. I live in Battersea and went for lunch with my boyfriend and 2 friends to the Duke of Cambridge a few weeks ago. It was so disappointing and I won't be eating there again. We all ordered a burger, and only one came. My friend didn't want to eat alone, so we asked how long the other 3 burgers were going to be and they said as soon as possible. After 10 minutes we sent the lonely burger back and asked for all 4 burgers to come at the same time (not a lot to ask, and not rocket science!). Although the waitress was apologetic, the service seemed very disorganised, with the chef ringing a bell, and leaving food to go cold at the counter, while the waiters ran around in the bar area the opposite end of the pub. Bad experience, totally over-priced, don't eat there!!

Have been to this great looking pub twice in in the last 10 days and been very disappointed with the food.
First occasion was a sunday lunch. We both went for the roast which arrived overdone and a bit dry, and they had the cheek to charge extra for the yorkshire puddings. Wouldn't have been so bad at say £8 or £9 each but these meals were £13 each, or the price you'd pay in a half decent restaurant. Two roasts, two pints and two soft drinks and a rubbery sponge pudding for £40?
Thinking I was unlucky, I hoped for better things when I returned next saturday, but it was worse. Burger (£10) was not much better than MacDonalds with cold damp chips, my friend's fish and chips was inedible and he reordered, and when I politely complained and insisted the fish and chips was removed from the bill, they did so, but nothing else. No apology. Just not interested.
Great pub spolied by crap overpriced food. For drinking only.

The Duke seems to be like many of the pubs in the area. The new look, friendly service makes a change from the average boozer and the food is much better now the old miserable staff have gone. They also have a fresh fish stall outside at the weekend so you can grab a pint and dinner in one go. Dog friendly whcih was nice.

I popped along to the duke of cambridge last week to watch the rugby after seeing that they were showing the games. The place has improved loads since the new mangement took over and the new menu is great, I recommend the pizza slab things to line the stomch for some serious drinking. And they do Peroni on draft. Nice!!

I returned to the Duke of Cambridge recently after having been away from the area for a year and was very pleasantly suprised to find the place busy, the staff friendly and courteous and the food excellent.
I spoke to the Manager and he mentioned they had a new Italian Chef and a new staff, all of which contributed to our evening.
The Beer was very good, very well kept, and my wife's rose was a great choice. Our meals were both top notch and we will be back again soon. Highly recommended.

The Duke is a great up. The change back to Youngs has improved the decor, service and choice of beverages. The food varies from great to OK depending on what you order. The place offers a relaxed atmosphere not a party pub. They welcome children and dogs.

Since the Duke has changed hands earlier in the year the food and the service has gone down hill. The menu is always running out, it would be nice to see some of the old back again as its was much better. Instead we have the same Fullers menu that you have in every Fullers pub and over priced for what you get!
On leaving a card behind the bill as asked, when it came to settling the bill the card had been taken and used by someone else and know where to be seen.
If it wasn't for the good atmoshpere we wouldn't come back.

I have lived In Battersea for a year and I drank in several pubs, but I know now that The Duke of Cambridge is one of the best, It is now back in the hands Of Youngs Brewery. The food is fantastic as the old kitchen staff have left and now, they have a Plentiful portions and beautiful food with some fantastic specials! might I add they do a very tasty Sunday Roast with all the Trimmings.
They also have Peroni on Tap which is a rarity in bars! and of course is a big seller!
I think anyone who slates this bar is out of order. The atmosphere is fantastic, The bar has an upper class feel but is still loved by Locals.
The steal is, If you have a dog they can can come and have a drink with you too!

Words fail me to tell you how utterly appalling this pub was. Tuesday night it was quite quiet, apart for a fight breaking out in the corner and police being called. Myself and my friends ordered a simple dish each. Only one meal arrived, no explanation as to why. Finally the waitress explained they'd been a mistake, 45 mins later the other two meals came out. The cod I'd ordered tasted exactly like boil in the bag version I've had whilst camping once-unedible. My first choice was a burger, they'd run out..
The waitress was extremely rude, and did begrudingly give us a free drink each. I know now why the Settle Inn down the road is packed everynight and sadly the Duke of Cambridge needs to take a long hard look at the food side of things.
