Ripe Tomato

I have been to RT many times over the last few years, attracted by its charm, great food and friendly service. But its lost something now. The food has become sloppy for example, the cold and rubbery fried cheese and my favourite, the lobster linguine, is not what it was (and getting more expensive). The service is very inconsistent, still friendly but not reassured and somewhat 'panicky'.

The place is cold, warmed by far from ample fan heaters.

Don't think we will be back again.

FANTASTIC food!!!!!! The best linguine al frutti di mare I've ever tasted! The pasta is cooked to perfection! The only "al dente" pasta I've eaten in London (and I've been to Zafferano and Locanda Loatelli!). IThe restaurant is a little noisy but when you start eating you don't hera anything!

I went for a meal last night with some friends who had highly recommended this venue. It was fantastic! the food was excellent and the service was attentive.

Lasagna was great. The guest in front of me found a hair in their chicken dish though!

A note about service, our waitress kept confusing our orders (ordering 2 dishes instead of 1.) My wife and I ordered 2 glasses of red wine, they brought 2 bottles (and opened both at the same time! -- even if we did order 2 bottles, why not open 1 first and wait to open the second bottle?)

We had a large group (8) and it was difficult to reconcile what we ordered vs. what was on the bill (it was hand-written and didn't break out the alcohol.) They don't take credit cards, so we scrambled to come up with enough cash.

The location and setting were great, the food was fine, service was OK. It wasn't a bad experience but with so many other options I don't see why I'd come back here again. Sorry to kick out one of the few negative reviews.

Superb. All you want on an evening out. Courteous and genuine staff, efficient and considerate. A traditional atmosphere, candles, subtle background music and unpretentious all round. The food never disappoints and is consistently all it promises to be. Generous portions, well presented, full of flavour and authentically divine. This family run restaurant proves that location location location is not an issue when you deliver all a customer wants.

I have been to tis restaurant many times and can't say a bad word about it. The food is tasty, the staff are friendly and the prices are great.

I've been loads of times and will keep going back. It's always great evening and I highly recommend it.

This will be a place I'm definitely going back to. A buzzing atmosphere combined with great background music make the Ripe Tomato a pleasure to eat in. A family-run restuarant, the staff and waiters are friendly and helpful. The food was divine, the lobster linguini was amazing and all at a reasonable price.
