Very disappointing after reading such great reviews. We couldn't get out of there quick enough! The owner and staff were disinterested and rude only concerned with our welfare as the bill was set upon our table. Never again Meze Mangal!!!!!

A great find in New Cross. The surrounding area may put some people off, but once you're inside you see how clean and nice it is. There is an open bbq for the kebabs and you can see what looks like a woodfire oven, it's very cosy. It was Monday night and it was almost full, the people at the table next to us spoke turkish to the waiters and so did another party who came through the door, which I take as good signs.

We ordered a mixed mezze for two, which includes a hot starter in addition to a good variety of the usual dips and warm delicious breads, we choose the lambs livers which were excellent. For a main we had pide, mine had juicy lamb pieces, peppers and tomatoes. The mezze was very filling so I couldn't eat all the main, but the friendly waiters were happy to put it in a takeway box so I could eat it the next day. Not only that it's extremely good value. Great place I will definitely be going back for more.

This place is always good to go and hang out or throw any kind of party, the staff is excellent as always, but the service was much more greater when there was a Turkish waiter, called Ozzy, who left to go for good to Turkey. Anyhow, comparing to all other Turkish Restaurants in London, I would say this is the best.

We miss you Ozzy, great job Shahin...Keep up the good work...

I love this place for a take away. The kebab dinner is just superb & I'd recommend it to anyone.

The staff are super friendly & chatty, the chef very efficient and obviously very competent. I love the real charcoal BBQ. This makes all the difference.

They even give you a glass of piping hot & delicious apple tea while you wait.

Can't fault it.

We love this place!! Always fantastic food, whatever time of day. We were on our way home at Midnight from central and we managed to have an amazing meal. Going for my Birthday this year, can't wait!!

I've been going to Meze Mangal for years, and it is still as good as it has always been. The food is fabulous and authentic ( I lived in Turkey for 3 years, so I know something about the food), and the prices are good. The service is unobtrusive, friendly and extremely efficient. I wish they would open a branch in South West London so I wouldn't have to keep schlepping to Lewisham!

Meze Mangal is undoubtedly the best Turkish restaurant in London. I would like to emphasise the fact that I have been to many Turkish restaurant not only in London, but also in Turkey and the United States, and I am rather fussy about the quality of what I eat. However, I have NOT come across another Turkish restaurant better than Meze Mangal. I have been a customer of the restaurant for about 6 years now, and I am impressed by the unchanging quality of the food and the service. Whatever I pick from the menu, I am 100% confident that everything on my plate (meat, salad, bread, meze etc.) will be fresh and cooked superbly EVERY SINGLE TIME. And, of course, the attentiveness and friendliness of the owners and the staff is the icing on the cake. Their attention to detail is unparalleled. I am just simply jealous of some of my friends who happen to live right across from the restaurant and have a chance to go there easily whenever they want.
