After reading the reviews it was a sure bet to have a good meal and a good night out? Don't believe what you read!! I took my family there the other night....the humus was more like a cream paste with very little flavour. The beans weren't cooked enough, the salads that came with the meals were bland,no dreesing or imagination just lettuce tomato and cucumber piled on the side of the plate. Everything about it was bland. I've never gone on a site like this to do a review but in this case I felt the need to balance the ridiculous reviews people are putting on about this restaurant it's very misleading. The turkish tea at the end is really the only thing anyone who was with me had anything positive to say about. Awful.

This is my favourite restaurant and I took my sister last night. We shared a starter - garlic prawns - which was delicious. Then we both had chicken shish for our main. The chicken was succulent and the salad fresh and tasty.

The portions are very generous and so we could only manage to eat half. The waiter saw our half eaten meals and gave us a doggy bag - it's nice that we didn't need to ask. Our meal came to £33, but were weren't drinking, we only had a bottle of water between the two of us.

The staff are excellent too, very attentive, during the meal we were asked whether the meal was ok, if we wanted any more bread/drinks etc by at least four different waiters. This makes a huge difference from trying to catch a waiter's attention, which is usually the case in a busy restaurant.

I would suggest booking as on a few occasions the place has been full and we've had to settle for a takeaway.

My friend and I visit Meze Mangal this week, after reading about it in recent press reviews. We arrived at 5.50 pm, and were only able to secure a table from then until 7.00 pm, as they had so many bookings already in place - this was a Wednesdsay night! All the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We had a bottle of sparkling wine which was lovely and cost a very reasonable £15. The main courses we had, both chicken and lamb were delicious, well cooked and generous in size. Atmosphere is very authentic - you really feel as if you're on holiday. We shall definitely be going again - and will book next time.

I have driven past this restaurant and wanted to try it for many many years, all I can say is it was worth the wait! Superb food, good service and very welcoming staff. I went with my husband and our 3 yr old and they couldn't have made us feel more comfortable, they were especially welcoming of our daughter which helped put us at ease and made the meal all the more enjoyable.

Looking from the outside, you really wouldn’t think much of this place, however the food is lovely, and great service.

They were packed solid the day I went but drinks came quickly and we only waited around 15 minutes after starters before our mains came out.

The food was lovely but they do fill up the plates with a lot of salad, take up over half the plate so there isn’t as much room for the meat which is the main reason you would come to this restaurant, however the meat is lovely, tender, juicy and great flavour.

The price wasn’t that bad at all, even though they had just risen the prices it still came to just under £24 each, and that included a starter, main, 1 side and 2 drinks, so not bad at all and with people querying to get in from outside they must be doing something right.

Meze Mangal is excellent value for money. Large portions, quality meat, veg and salads, and lots of Turkish atmosphere. Not bad for a restaurant in Lewisham. It certainly gives the Efes chain a run for its money. Went there last week (yes before the riots) with a very difficult to please friend. She likes to mention the quality food in Switzerland at least twice in each sentence. For a change she ate without talking too much. Will visit again and again. No frills or airs or graces. Just good food and great hospitality.

We went for to Meze Mangal for the first time last night, the top floor was packed & really buzzy. Make sure you book. The food was excellent, meat was really tender. A carnivores heaven. We will return many more times, I'm sure.

Dos Hermanos

Friday, July 30, 2010 - In the taste stakes vying for first place were the Adana - perfect texture with spicing just so - and the freshly grilled quail halves which were hot, sticky and salty. I could have done with a little more of the other lamb components but ribs and chops were done well with crisp fat and properly seasoned. Kidneys were a little over pink but fresh tasting and not at all rubbery. Grilled Peppers had a good char giving them a beautifully smoky taste followed by a surprisingly big heat kick. Salad was a bit style over substance.
