Castello

I have been going to the 'Castello' for over 20 years (formerly based in the Elephant and Castle). I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience there. It offers fantastic value for money. The staff, although often very busy, are efficient and friendly. I have celebrated a number of special ocassions there - indeed our family went there for a number of years the week before Christmas to get into the Christmas spirit and generally unwind. There is nothing like simple italian food, well cooked, eaten in a convivial atmosphere to help you forget the growing list of last minute Christmas preparations!

If you want guaranteed good food, great service, warm atmostphere and value for money, look no further!!

I recently visited Castello for a meal with the family, we had a beautiful meal as always and was welcomed heartly by the staff and new manager who has fitted in very well and is well known locally. Atmosphere was lively and everyone is freindly. And the price isdefintely better than many other places for the quality food ad service you recieve. will definately visit again!

What has happened to Castellos ? My friends and i went for a birthday meal last week, the food was just as nice but the atmosphere has gone badly downhill.

This place was always full and buzzing, it was very hard to get a table at short notice and on this occasion i booked well in advance. There was no need, apart from our table there were only two others occupied. The bar area was compleatly empty apart from staff standing idle with no-one to wait on. The jovility and fun has totally dissapeared and its a shame but we all agreed it would be a while before we ventured there again.

There is no need to go into the West End to find a good restaurant; the food is excellent and the service is outstanding.I am lucky because I work and live near Castello so can go there regularly. I am 63 years old and keep in touch with four schoolfriends from near and far.Once a year we visit our teacher who is 95 years old and lives in the Salesian Convent in Jamaica Road. We have arranged this year's visit for Saturday 5th April and I can't wait to get my teeth into the pasta and lobster !

This has to be the only resturant that doesnt rush you out of there once you have finished your meal and they are very welcoming

The atmosphere is lovely in there, full of happy people enjoying their food and they dont have no loud background music in the background so you can hear yourself talk unlike some places i have been to.

Me and my mates love it in there we tend to go there at least once a month and we always go there for special occassions. The food is to die for and the sangria is a must. As i say once you have been there you will want to keep going back for more, this is one resturant that is loved by all.

What a lovely find on the Jamaica Road! I had walked by this unassuming place a few times and it was bulging at the seams every time so I decided to give it a whirl. I ordered a plate of seafood pasta that came with half a lobster, BEAUTIFUL! And it was under 12 pounds!!! I enjoyed it so much that I hadn't realized that my head was not more than 2 inches away from the plate and completely forgotten that I had come with my husband. I have to say tho, the paella my husband ordered while good, was sadly slightly undercooked. I do like rice el dente but this was pushing it.

This place reminds me of the kind of place I used to go to as a kid with my parents. It feels welcoming and warm despite the less than formidable decorating. It is bright and clean just not an interior designers dream of which I am.

In fact we enjoyed it so much we are heading there for dinner tonight......

Castellos is brilliant for service, value for money, atmosphere and most important-delicious food. We come back again and again. The stuffed mushrooms are 'to die for'.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at this establishment. we are booked for a Christmas evening out there next week and are all looking forward to it.

We chose to go here for Mum's 70th birthday this year, everyhing went so well, from booking in advance, to the special seating required, mainly to allow for a wheelchair the whole area is accessable with full disabled acess and facilities.

The menu suited everyone from 5 years to 70 !! Nothing was too much trouble a thoroughly good value for money evening !! Thank You !! I guess we will come back again and again no reason not to. !! Well Done !!
