Yes yet again they tried the service charge twice trick, an amount appears at the bottom of the bill with nothing written next to it and then the credit card machine asks you again if you would like to tip.

Second time here in 2 weeks with friends, Pizza great, pasta very good, wine is pretty rubbish and overpriced.

Sent one bottle back, tasted like vinegar, head waiter said it was fine and offered an alternative, it arrived 20 minutes later.

Won't be going Luna Rosa again

Had a delicious meal here. Great value too and a nice location. I went there on a Saturday and it was surprisingly quiet for 8 o'clock but we got a gorgeous seat. The decor is lovely and the food is of an extremely high standard.

Dishes were presented really nicely and the smells coming from the kitchen just made my mouth water even more. Staff were very good, one dish didn’t arrive but the manager was soon down to apologise and say that the dish would be with us shortly and so it was.

The coffees were lovely too and the staff friendly. While there were just two of us I think it would definitely be suitable for larger groups also.

Went there last night. Pizzas are good, "best in London" - don't know about that. but yes they're still pulling the old service charge twice routine. Once on the bill, 12.5% added after the food & drink total & not itemised, and a suggested 12.5% gratuity comes up on the credit card machine later. When I queried this the manager gave me the "troublemaker" look and told me it was optional so what was my problem? My problem is a) you're attempting to rip off a customer and b) 25% for indifferent service is a joke. I will not return.

Yesterday night I went to the Italian Restaurant "Luna Rossa" , because I heard a lot spoken about it. I was expecting good service and dishes, but I found the first slow and impersonal and the second only appreciable, not exquisite like I heard. For there quality, dishes are overpriced, and the 25% more added to the bill for service, is to much.

Very mixed isn't it? I have been twice because I wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of teh doubt - the food is good but the organisation is pretty poor. That might add to the night or might not - depends on your attitude.

Our first night we were appalled by the service - the waitress didn't even try to apologise claiming it was her last night and that the working environment had driven her to this attitude...hmmm ok

Second night, we tried but the manager was chaotic, our food order was incorrect and the chef stated arguing with our waiter who disappeared and we did not see him again atleast at our table. By this time we were in stitches, we found the whole experience hilarious - we're fairly laid back about these things and just made the decision not to return.

In summary, food is good, venue is tight, service is bad but there is an authenticity about the place... up to you!

I'm not an expert on italian food, but am quickly becoming one on pizza...

The pizza here is delicious. It's the kind of dough you want to eat, quickly, including the edges, because if you didn't you'd be wasting good food. It's pretty similar pizza to Sarracino in W Hampstead so if you like it there, you'll like it here too (though at Luna Rossa these are by the 1/4m if two or more orders for pizza from same party). Wine list is OK and reasonably priced; deserts average; service efficient; very bustling place but reasonable prices considering popularity and location.

Luna Rossa is the best Italian restaurants i've ever been to. Starting from the nice and warm welcome as soon as you get in you already feel like at home in Italy, It's really a trip to Naples. I like to order always different dishes and each one is really really delicious. Last time i went there it was to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, and we took a set menu where basically we could eat as much starters, pasta and pizza as we wanted for a very good price. We had so much food and so much fun that i'll remember that day for a very long time, but thanks god i know i'm going there tomorrow, because i'm now an addict to this restaurant and i need to go there at least 3 times a week... BUON APPETITO.

My friend and I ate lunch at Luna Rossa last Saturday and were treated appalling by the staff. When I asked if service was added to the bill the waiter said "no". I keyed in my tip, then my friend noticed that service had in fact been added. When I queried this the waiter said the additional charge was for "wages" - I had subsequently given them a 25% tip!

I argued this was a blatant fraud and the waiter made a huge fuss, was very rude then ignored us. As we left he made a big show of opening the till and giving me my tip back. I was horrified! The food had been really tasty and it was such a shame my experience at this lovely place was spoiled by such a rude waiter. I will never go back. If you do then check your bill!

Hi,

I went to Luna Rossa yesterday evening with my boyfriend... we are both italian and we are agree that we were feeling like at home.

Italian waiters, owner, chef...

The service was good, but maybe they need more organization.

Service average. The head chef doesn't make you feel welcome at all and doesn't seem very friendly with other employee. The food is very nice and not expensive. Not recommended for romantic dinner as the atmosphere is very busy. Not a lot of space around and on the table.
