I don't know how this place survives! It's been in Colindale for longer than I have and recently was the first and last time I have and ever will pay a visit. I used to wonder why I'd never seen the restaurant full. Now I know.
The food is woeful. Anything on the menu designated as 'spicy' roughly translates as 'lots of pepper'. Familiar dishes are unrecognisable by any of the senses.
The service is away with the fairies. Drinks were substituted without prior confirmation - in one case through human error and another case through lack of stock. Dishes were brought out with 10-15 minute gaps between them. Very hard to get staff attention. Can't decide whether they were untrained, inexperienced or simply disinterested.
The decor is extremely tired and in dire need of a revamp. Only the tablecloths are new. Also spotted a mains electrical outlet in the mens' toilet. Is this allowed?
I can't give a high score for value. I'm glad I've tried it. I'd go again only if they refurbished and changed the management. It can only improve things. With at least two competing (and vastly superior) restaurants within walking distance, Golden Villa's days are numbered unless they change their game.
