Sera Seafood Restaurant

We went here for a special birthday dinner because we'd read the great reviews and I'm sorry to say that we were disappointed.
The seafood platter for 2 (starter) contained fake crab claws (reformed versions that were breaded), large mussels that were draped in a tomato sauce that tasted like passata and a heap of deep fried whitebait. The highlights were 2 sardines (yummy) , 2 scallops and 2 large prawns.
For main course I had the scallops. These were rather overcooked and drenched in garlic butter. They were served in the shell with a salad garnish and it all felt a big old fashioned. The side portion of vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. They were so hot it seemed like they had been reheated in a microwave. We were also told the veg included broccoli but this did not appear.
My partner had the scallop risotto, and whilst the scallops were lovely, the texture of the risotto was very watery and it tasted very sweet. It appeared to be a mushoom risotto with scallops through it but was more reminiscent of rice pudding. The side portion of veg were the same as above.
The wine was lovely and the service was attentive although we were not asked how our starters or main course were until we had finished. When I complained about the vegetables the extra portion was removed from the bill.

I had the pleasure of eating at Le Sera with a friend and my husband, whose birthday it was, and I was so pleased that I had chosen Le Sera.
It was my first time there and it will definitely not be my last. The food was excellent and the service impeccable, the staff were so friendly. The decor was light and cheerful and the place had a lovely atmosphere, and on the whole it was the best meal I'd had for a long time. It was well cooked and presented and it came very quickly after our ordering.
I had the monkfish and it was cooked just right. There are other foods on the menu besides seafood so it does cater for those who do not particularly like fish, my husband being one. He had the steak, which was a very generous size and cooked perfectly to his requirements.
We recently ate at the Oxo Tower on the South Bank where I had the monkfish and I have to say that it was nowhere near as nice as it was at Le Sera. It was also overpriced and my party of friends and I came out hungry after our meal. This was not the case at Le Sera. The portions are more than adequate.
We can't wait to go back again.

My first dinner at this restaurant will not be the last one. I love seafood and I tend to be a bit fussy about the way it is prepared. The taste of my king scallops left me speechless. My main course was just as good. I most definitely recommend it !

My husband and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary yesterday, 28 June 06 and spent our evening at Le Sera. I feel compelled to tell you that we thorougly enjoyed our evening meal. The service was immpecable and the quality of food was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is, especially, a lover of fish. I personally had pan fried Sea Bream with vegetables. Fish had a lovely texture and was seasoned just right! I plan to go back this week to sample other dishes on their menu.

I have eaten in la sera many times and taken friends and family there. The food is excellent, I'd say one of the best seafood restaurants in North london.
The staff are friendly, the atomosphere relaxed, the menu caters for a variety off cuisines and all at reasonable prices.
If you haven't been yet you don't know what your missing!

This is the best restaurant ever! Staff are incredibly friendly and the food is to die for, and reasonably priced too. The lobster is the only dish I haven't fully enjoyed as it was a bit dry, but everything else in the menu is delicious. Have been there over 30 times since it first opened and will continue to go!

It was my first visit to the La Sera recommended by a friend ,the decor and service was good for a Friday evening ,however I was not too happy with the meal as on the menu it stated crab claws for the platter but I got crab flavoured balls and the prawn was powdery and soft for the main course .Quite disappointed really as my friend told me how good it was ,as a lover of lobster and crab I would like to try those dishes but I am thinking very carefully now whether to visit La Sera again or not .

I regularly eat in La Sera and have taken many friends there who have in turn taken theirs. The reason being is that I find the food to be delicious, very reasonable prices, especially the wine. The service is exceptional, very friendly staff and the owner regularly comes over to say "hello" and "how are you."
I disagree with one of the reviews which states that the service is not very good during busy periods. I always eat there on a friday and it gets pretty busy but the service remains the same, very good.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant, for good food, nice relaxed atmosphere, great service, value for money.

I went to La Sera the other night having walked past loads of times. I usually go to Church Street and hide away from the High Street but I was really surprised!
The head waiter was so welcoming and the food was lovely.
It's a little Stokey hidden treasure!
