AMAZING!
After booking this venue through London Eating, we believed that it would be a superb evening for my 30th birthday for 30 of us last week and we were one of the 2 large groups but we had our own 2 waiters who not only gave us a great service, starters arrived in 20 mins for the whole group and the main courses were served in less than a minute to all of us, we were even asked five different sauces to go with our meals. After the desserts I was given a free birthday cake with a happy birthday song from the pianist as well as a free champagne by the manager who kept all my guests happy and the bill was perfectly fine.
I already booked Mosaique for Valentines Day, looking forward to having my yummy salt n pepper squid followed by honey glazed salmon... yum yum!!! It was like the one on Marks n Spencer's advert!
Of course, the dessert was the French Chocolate Mousse, the presentation and the taste is still in my head...
The pianist also added a lovely touch but to see Sir Trevor McDonald having his champagne - red wine and his dinner with his friends from ITV made us feel like a celebrity! :) We always seen these faces on the telly but now they were dining next to us!
At the end it was an amazing experience from start with free Champagnes on arrival to free dessert wines to finish with, definately a value for money and a great service...
It is a must try if you want to dine in style in a stylish restaurant in London WC1.
Looking forward to my next romantic dinner on Wednesday...
Thank you for making my 30th birthday so special at Mosaique...

We visited Mosaique last night with a group of 10 people for a friend's birthday. The food was fine and the service was ok during the meal aside from the fact that they put our group right next to the front door which doesn't shut properly. On a cold November evening the draft was so unpleasant that a member of our party had to get up every minute and a hlaf to keep shutting the door so those sitting right next to it wouldn't freeze.
At the end of the meal the bill came and this was where the real problems started. We all chose courses that were available both on the set dinner menu and on the a la carte. In some cases charging the food at the a la carte price worked out cheaper than the fixed price menu. The bill failed to distinguish at all between the fixed and a la carte prices and distributed the cost between courses in a way that was not at all reflected on the menu. The result was that the bill was confusing and looked like we had been considerably overcharged. The difficulty was also that there was no real way to tell if that was the case. After lengthy discussions with the management we were still able to decipher how much we should actually have paid and why.
It was a shame to end the meal in this way because up until then (aside from the door) we had had a very good evening at the Restaurant. Simply a word of caution and ask not to be seated right by the door if possible.

I went to this restaurant with friends and was dissapointed from the outset.
I mentioned to the waiter that we were going to use the deal we had found on this website and we were informed that the price of this deal had increased even though I had mentioned the offer twice to staff; once when booking and the second when I phoned to add another guest to our reservation. Eventually, after some disagreeing, the waiter agreed that I would be charged as the offer had stated.
However, when the bill arrrived we were all charged full price! It was only when we again queried the price that the waiter relented and altered it to the correct amount. Sadly, I can't put this error down to the fact he was busy as only a few tables were occupied that night.
Other than that food was good and music ok. I definately wouldn't return though as his manner tainted the evening.

I dined here last year on a friday night. It was easy to book at pretty short notice (even if they didnt understand my northern accent on the phone!). The atmosphere was wonderful, not to dim so you couldnt see what you were eating and the lighting was very good. The decor was great. Even though it is not that big a place and seems small when you walk in there is actually alot of room and didnt feel cramped at all. I had the Lamb shish for a main course and it was delicious, if a little on the small size. Wine selection was also excellent. A tip if you dont like strong sweet coffee - dont take the free turkish coffee offered at the end of the meal! Overall was a good experience

I came to Mosaique on a Saturday night for dinner with my wife for our anniversary. We decided to come here mainly for the piano music as we thought this would provide a romantic setting, and because the restaurant was listed on this website in the romantic category.
However, we were thoroughly disappointed. The layout was clearly not suitable for intimate dining. The restaurant was long and narrow and we were seated between two large groups of diners, with no level of intimacy whatsoever, even though I had explained on the telephone that we were coming for our anniversary.
There was one large group of around 15 next to us, and they were constantly walking about and standing around us. One even bashed into our table and almost knocked over our bottle of wine!
The piano music was probably delightful, but were never able to find out as the music was completely drowned out by the noise of the rabble.
The service was quite poor as well. Staff semmed very timid and we had to keep asking them to repeat everything they said as they were speaking so quietly. Our coats were taken to start with, but when we left there was no one available to bring them back, and we had to get them ourselves. Staff didn't seem to even notice that we had left - no thank you for coming or good night.
The only plus point was the food, which was tasty and well cooked. We had planned to have desert and take our time, but because of the noise we left as soon as we had finished our main course and went and a quiet coffee somewhere else.
Mosaique is fine if you want to have a meal with a large group of friends, but don't come here if you want a romantic meal.

Well, I was quite disappointed at this place. After reading all the reviews I was expecting much more!
I would have never awarded 8ish marks for anything in this place. Mind you, I did go on a Monday night. Even then, there should have been more than just us sitting at the restaurant. Also, I don't know how it is when the pianist is there, but the music was horrible!
I also asked for the offer that goes with this website and when the bill arrive, to my surprise, it was nothing like the offer. I ended up paying much more 15ish per head... basically I think I could have made better use of my money. It was definately not value for money.
Can't complain about the service though. that was great, though it might have been for the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant!
All in all, if I were you and wanted to spend around 50-60, there must be a million other places I would go to before this one.

I booked on a Thursday morning for early dinner at 1830 on the same day and quoted the offer.
Finding the place was not as simple as we'd hoped! For other visitors walking from Chancery Lane tube station, proceed across the first busy intersection and the restaurant is on the left after about 40 metres. The staff were very helpful in giving directions and gracious when we were a few minutes late.
We were two couples, and were not too surprised to find only a few other tables occupied on our arrival, it being quite early in the evening. Service was very acceptable all through the meal, as one might expect in a quiet, well-staffed restaurant. The restaurant gained a buzzy, pleasant atmosphere as the evening went on. Nearly every table was taken by the time we left at 2145.
Complementary drinks arrived as promised, later Turkish beer for the boys and wine for the girls. All very good. A gastronomic break from the norm is guaranteed to all but the most frequent Mediterranean diner.
When it came to choosing dishes, we were left with the menu for nearly 10 minutes making our selection from the 3-course dinner menu, then advised that we should have been choosing from the lunch menu below! Not quite what was expected.
The dishes, whilst tasting excellent, varied in appearance and appeal. The falafel were an unpleasant shape and colour, and the parsley sauce on the fish cakes was so bright green as to appear rather artificial. I went off the menu, in fact, choosing my starter from the dinner options and enjoyed perfectly-cooked salt and pepper squid (my mouth is watering now!) I recommend this dish to all seafood lovers: a very fair portion indeed, and pleasantly presented.
I continued with the paella-like risotto, which despite it's appearance, was anything but bland and thoroughly savoured the healthy amount of seafood. Excellent flavours combined by an equally excellent chef.
The restaurant advertises itself as a piano bar, and yes, a pianist does play from 1930 each evening. We found the selection of music appealing (songs from the shows, etc.) but felt that the lady's efforts were from time to time... off-putting. That said, live music is always an enjoyable accompaniment to any meal
On the whole, we applauded Mosaique for providing good food and entertainment at an extremely reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant along with a small group of friends for a birthday celebration and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The food was very tasty and extremely good value for money, the pianist added to an intimate and warm atmosphere, and the staff were polite.
The only downer was that there were only two other customers in the restaurant during the whole time we were there! We couldn't believe that this place isn't thriving! I think the owners/staff want to know why it is that their restaurant isn't generating they amount of interest it deserves since whenever anything was left uneaten they asked what was wrong with it. We found it very strange that they asked this since the food was tasty but my friend was just genuinely full. They obviously want to know what they are doing wrong and my response to that would be 'nothing'.
A brilliant venue for all types of occassions and I'll definately be coming back soon.

We went to mosaique for a birthday party last night and had a great time. the food was all good, and the mezze in particular was great. The cheapest white wine on the menu £12.50 a bottle was really nice. The service was great, amd though they left a loing time between courses our drinks were conctsantly refilled and it gave us all plenty of time to chat. And the piano player joined in with 'happy birthday' when the cake came out. All in all, a perfect location for a birthday dinner.

I went there with some of my oldest and dearest school mates. It was like a re-union for us and Mosaique provided the perfect atmosphere. The live piano in the background was so serene and the food was lovely. The house white wine is good and for starters I had prawns with hallomi cheese. The risotto as well as the fish cakes with avacado were delicious..the deserts looked tempting but I was on a diet! The staff were smiley and friendly..The special offer was too good a deal to miss..highly recommend it!
