We went to Chez Manny as it was just around the corner and reviewed well.

What a shame.

The food was good, but the service was without a doubt the worst we have experienced in London. The place was only 20% full on a Friday night, so the staff were not overly busy, but could not get the very basics right. Many times we had to call them over for simple things like taking orders, clearning away.

We doubted it could be the regular staff, as they were so young and quite clueless.

There are simply too many great French restaurants around the area for Chez Manny to maintain such a poor level.

In a surprisingly French corner of Battersea this restaurant offers the kind of country cooking that made Elizabeth David’s heart glow.

A small-ish menu with big flavoured soups and terrines, confit and cassoulet, rabbit and ragouts with a wine list to match.

The food is honest and confident, but it’s not really the story.

Manny dazzles, shines and charms his way around the room. Regulars shake hands and kiss in a truly Gallic way and drink Meteor and pastis, even though they are not all from France. It ought to smell of Gauloises.

A very welcome way to spend a Friday evening without breaking the bank.

We had a very nice evening at Chez Manny. I booked it without having been there before, which is always nerve-wracking, but all was well.

The food was delicious, there was an excellent choice of wines, and the service was attentive.

The restaurant was not very full, in spite of the 25%-off-the-entire-bill offer that is available fore early starters on Monday to Thursday evenings, but it has enough atmosphere, some interesting pictures on the walls and a comfortable seating area for a pre-dinner drink.

Chez Manny is tucked away in a semi-pedestrian area, which is a plus, and parking was not a problem on the night that we went.

Vaux la visite.

Absolutely great little place hidden away on Battersea High Street.

Highly recommended for atmosphere- relaxed, friendly, warm and food - quality , taste and variety.

The brothers are lovely guys.

I have eaten there at least a dozen times and have never been let down.

Great place.

Great food, excellent host and fabulous atmosphere. This place not only has really good, home cooked food but one of the best wine lists I have seen in a long time.

We have been to Chez Manny a few times and it has become our de facto local. The food is very tasty is not on the salty side. And as the other reviewers ha e mentioned the service is great.

The only complain I have (and it is not a big one) is that they have a rotating specials menu but we to often it is starting to get a bit repetitive.
