The Soho House group has opened a branch of Pizza East and two new projects, Dirty Burger and Chicken Shop, in Kentish Town. Chicken Shop sells rotisserie chickens (quartered, halved and whole) to eat in or takeaway. Side dishes include triple cooked chips, corn on the cob and salad.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013 - The chicken was lick-the-dribbling-juices-from-the-chin flavoursome, crinkle-cut chips were a crunchy nostalgic delight, an avocado and lettuce salad was well dressed, and the coleslaw was finely shredded and properly sharp...“I love that you come here for one thing and one thing only. Lack of choice is good,” was one young ingrate’s verdict. “The flavours are great, the staff are friendly, and there’s no faffing about,” said another.

Sunday, September 23, 2012 - It's sticky and tender, skin slathered in salty, herby juices. There's hot sauce (again, no Nando's, this stuff creates beads of sweat on the brow at first bite) and smoky sauce. The excellent, although super-salty, crinkle fries come with ketchup and garlic mayonnaise...I'm struggling to find much fault with Chicken Shop except the frequent interruptions by staff. I don't mind most of the time, because it's to proffer sauces or more chips – yes, we went there – but it's all a bit eager beaver. It might be new-gaff nerves, or it might be part of the technique to keep things moving along.

Tasty and nicely cooked chicken, but the sides are plain and without imagination. It all felt rather too expensive for what it was - Nandos for white, middle class people. With the addition of the staff asking 'How is everything?' every 14 seconds, it's not somewhere I will be returning to soon.

Excellent.

Short menu. Excellent food. Very fast service. Gets busy, but worth a wee wait.

Cheap too: 6 blokes shared 2 chickens and plenty of sides, each with a pint, for £15 each. Beats Nando's hands down.
