New York operators, The ONE Group, have opened the first London branch of their STK chain at the ME by Melia Hotel on the Strand. The menu includes British and USDA steaks, wagyu burgers, seafood and salads. The STK restaurants aim to make the steakhouse experience more 'female friendly' and diners can expect NYC-style dinner DJs and an eclectic cocktail list.

Saturday, March 16, 2013 - Nothing we eat is worth its hefty price tag. A "salad" features slimy, over-balsamiced grilled radicchio, decent prosciutto and "house-smoked bocconcini", which translates as rubbery little dollops of bog-standard mozzarella that are strangers to the smoker. A steak – USDA prime sirloin, apparently – tastes only of char...It's a theme restaurant. And the theme is Sex And The City circa 1999.

Thursday, February 21, 2013 - With an air of supreme self-sacrifice, we try the lady-friendly tiddler, a 150g feather steak. Combined with sides of floury macaroni cheese and oversalted Parmesan truffle fries, it’s not as inadequate as we’d expected but it is overcooked. It goes back to the kitchen, while we share a bland 450g rib-eye...What with the DJ, the long walk to the hotel loos, the exuberantly sugary fairground-themed pudding (candy floss, popcorn, baggy doughnuts) and the rules, STK is exhausting.

Fun concept. Bad food, ok service, filthy bathrooms.

The concept is fun at STK the music and energy is infectious. But with the Towie crowd getting papped outside you do feel out of place if you aren't orange with fake Laboutins on.

The food was awful my pork belly had a sauce that was so salty it was almost inedible. it was chewy and the top lovely fatty bit was so hard i couldnt cut through it with a steak knife. The truffle chips were under cooked and our waiter forgot part of the order.

The bathrooms were filthy and there was no toilet paper. So much for female friendly.

We spent £600 at our table so it's not a cheap night out. I expect better.

Food was outstanding. Atmosphere & music excellent.

Service was shocking! One waitress in particular was EXTREMELY rude when we asked for side orders!

My friend was trying to get a reservation for quite some time, and we finally managed to get a table on a fri night.

overall, worst dining experience in London!

From the get-go with the loud music ( you can't hold a conversation for more than 10 sec) tacky decor and flashy crowd; we knew something felt off.

We all ordered the feather steak and some side dishes. Basically the steaks were inedible, full of fat and the meat hard. My particular steak was half fat which I had to chew out.

The waitress asked how our food was and I told her that the steak was all fat. Her reaction was 'oh' and walked away. What service.

When they cleared the table no one asked why our plates were left full.

Then the dessert... It was a Ferris wheel with various American sweets... marshmallows, sweet popcorn, fried dough ... Honestly, very basic nothing remarkable and not up to the standard the stk is trying to project.

Finally, the cherry on top of this disappointing evening, the waitress brought the cheque when none of our party requested it. Basically what I consider quite rude.

Not worth it....
