About Thyme

I found About Thyme by accident when staying in the area on business. I normally hate eating alone in restaurants but this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The menu was imaginative and the food was exceptionally well-prepared from fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. Personally I wasn't sure the oriental style salad dressing worked with rocket and parmesan salad, but I'm being very picky. The service was impeccable - the staff seemed to genuinely care, withn a perfect balance of friendly attentiveness without being fussy. I considered the prices reasonable; I've paid more for worse meals even outside London. If I lived locally I would be a frequent visitor.

About Thyme is just simple, cosy, friendly.

Good food and excellent value for money, all courses are rich, generous and well balanced.

I am really surpised at some of the negative comments. I have eaten at About Thyme on many, many occasions. The food has always been excellent and the service thoughtful and considerate. It is my restaurant of choice when business colleagues visit London and I have even taken my staff there for Christmas lunch. The service can be a little slow at busy times, but then if you want Burger King go to Burger King. From my point of view, EVERY visit has been a pleasant and enjoyable experience, including the excellent cuisine. I have recommended this restaurant to a large number of people.

After a quick search, I stumbled upon About Thyme for a post - theatre meal. I arrived there with my girlfriend, and from start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The staff were as friendly as I have ever had in any London restaurant, the food and wine was very tasty, well cooked and well presented and even after such a great evening, it was quite reasonable.

I will definately be back, and imagine this could become a regular haunt of mine!!!

I recently took some friends to About Thyme - none of us had been there and I relied on previous references. After an initial strange reception we had a great evening, enjoyed very well cooked dishes across a wide variety of flavours to please the palette and easily found some good wines to accompany the meal.

I ll be definitely seen there again!

My partner and I have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions. Both the meal and the service has always been impeccable. The staff are attentive without being overly so and the cost of the meal is resonably priced. Whenever we go to this restaurant (mainly for sunday lunch), we often see the same customers there, which is reassuring. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

A first class restaurant. I went with my girlfriend to celebrate a special occasion and we were both highly impressed. the food was superb, starters to die for, I had spanish black pudding with fried quail eggs, my girlfriend had courgette flowers, the mains were just stunning, we had suckling pig and sea bass, wanted to share a pudding but couldnt possible. After reading some of the previous reviews, We just wonder if we all were in the same restaurant. the ambience and service were also well above of what we expected. About Thyme was recomended to as by a friend that travels from Clapham to eat at About Thyme and We will defenitely recomend About Thyme to anyone, if the portions, quality of the food and service is always as it was last night, About Thyme is just simply one of the best restaurants in London,

Had a very poor meal here. The service was diabolical - the waiter never once smiled, was surly, did not explain the menu, poured still water into fizzy, left my menu at the table until the starter was served, dropped a spoon on me and I heard two sets of plates smashing on the floor of the kitchen! The food was adequate but in no way compensated for the experience. Will not be going back.

The starter and main were ok but very small portion sizes, particularly given the fairly high prices. I would echo the comments of previous reviewers regarding the apple & berry crumble. Really not what I would expect of a traditional English pudding. The topping was powdery and the apples undercooked. Overall, whilst an pleasant evening, I felt that I could have spent a lot less for a more enjoyable experience.
