we went to About Thyme on Saturday and it was by far the best meal we had in London both my wife and I agree that everything was superb. wine, food and service.
nothing was too much trouble!
our waiter offer a friendly and efficient service and an special mention to the Maitre D'/owner.
when we paid the bill we left a £20 note as a tip, before he picked up he said that, it was very kind of us but service charge was already included on the bill and that was far too kind for him to accept
no discussions I said. we are more than happy to leave on top of the service, as we felt we were treated it like royalty.
when in London we will be returning.

About Thyme is a beautiful bistro which I'm lucky enough to have in my neighbourhood. Myself and my boyfirend went for dinner on a saturday night when the clientelle is local and there's a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. I had a problem with my main dish which the waiter was very apologetic for and quickly provided me with a menu for an alternative choice. This did mean that my boyfriend had practically finished his dinner when my replacement meal was set down in front of me and rather ruined the night. Both my replacement meal and boyfriends meal were delicious. The waiter offered us a free liqueur at the end of the meal to apologise for the mess up with my original main however I'd rather have had the compulsory service charge removed from the total bill. Overall a neutral experience for me,

Having seen the previous reviews we were expecting something quite special so it was disappointing to find that the food was fairly average. It was certainly pleasant enough, but for the price I'd expect something significantly better or more interesting than I could make at home, and this just wasn't. I picked out the rabbit ragout from a slightly uninspiring sounding list of main courses in the hope that it would be a bit different, but the sauce just tasted of tomatoes with a few chickpeas and a reasonably nice piece of meat floating in it, and didn't offer any depth of flavour or interesting textures.
Service was fine and the final bill not exorbitant, but overall this was a bit of a let-down. I won't be going again.

Most excellent in every possible manner. The food is impressive. The staff is friendly and affable. It is one of those restaurants that you can go back to often and not feel that it has become stale or in some other way not up to past experiences. When my family and I are in London, we always find an excuse to go there at least a few times. Of particular note is the cured ham--by all means try it.
My only disappointment is that they don't have a branch in Dallas, Texas.

i had booked for 16 people to eat after seeing Wicked the show. The food was absolutely delicious and all 16 people were in agreement. The service was excellent, the staff were attentive but left you alone to chat ect.One of our members was slightly cold and the waiter offered to put a heater behind her. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and lots of our members took the restaurants business cards to visit again.

About Thyme has really improved lately. It seemed like there were some teething problems when it first opened, but if you gave up on it back then, it's well worth another try. Staff are very polite and friendly, the menu is interesting and really well executed, and the atmosphere has improved a lot now that it's a little more popular.

An excellent dining experience. The food is simply wonderful. The staff is friendly and efficient without hovering over the customers. The many times I have been there with family has been memorable each time. I strongly recommend the ham sliced from the leg of a pig which is fed acorns. The flavor is fantastic. The wine list is well balanced to the menu ranging from robust reds to flinty whites.
I recommend a reservation, and prefer to eat downstairs to enjoy the ambiance.

We had lunch today at About Thyme and were very impressed from the start. A very friendly host welcomed us and made us feel extremely welcome before serving us with delicious food. We chose from a set menu with lots of tasty options and were all pleased with our selections.
The service was excellent - just the right side of attentive without disturbing us, and extremely friendly. We were made to feel very special.
The prices were extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food. We will definitely be back and this is likely to become a regular Sunday lunch venue.
