The team from Honest Burgers in Brixton have opened their second London restaurant. The new burger bar is on the former Palms of Goa site on Meard Street in Soho.

TimeOut

TimeOut - 4/5

Friday, August 10, 2012 - The beef burgers are the main attraction here - 35 day dry-aged British chuck steak from Ginger Pig topped with the likes of subtly pickled cucumbers, robust cheddar, brittle smoked bacon or sweet red onion relish - the other options are not to be knocked. The crisp cauliflower, sweetcorn and shallot fritter burger, drizzled with coriander and cucumber yoghurt dressing, make a light, but satisfying veggie option, while the chicken burgers are ample and juicy. Thanks to its prime Soho location, Honest Burgers number two may well be just as popular as the first one.

Next up on the London burger quest... well, it's good, the meat in particular is really tasty but I wasn't blown away.

Went for a cheese and honest burger, decent bun but glazed - not brioche? Nice enough. My friend found the onion relish too sweet and I couldn't find a particular hook to make these burgers stand out, the pickle in the honest was quite sweet. No sides as such - just a salad or slaw (didn't try) so no mac n cheese or poppers to add interest.

I'd go again, but enjoyed meat market / liquor more.

One thing that was great was that they take a number rather than expect you to queue, the The Crown & Two Chairmen on Dean street has some decent beers.

(Don't sit near the door - was freezing last night!)

I had a takeout from Honest Burgers at the weekend. It was just a simple cheddar cheeseburger and chips. Beef is sourced via Ginger Pig.

Overall, great tasting burger with some nice caramelized onions. It was surprisingly small (if you're used to GBK sized servings) but with the chips I'd say it was just the right amount for a meal, no more no less.

Currently my favourite burger is from the Berwick St market stall Tongue n Cheeks, and this burger wasn't quite up to that standard but it was nice enough. I would probably choose it over some of the well-known burger chains as I like to support the smaller company.

Nice buzzing atmosphere in the restaurant but mine was a takeaway.
