Chez Kristof

I approached Chez Kristof with some reluctance, having heard of the spotty service in some reviews. I can say after several visits that it is a thing of the past. Friendly welcome, attentive service, inviting decor, and food that is worth a visit. Not quite classical French, but a wonderful marriage of traditional and innovative preparation. I loved the cuttlefish salad, a wonderfully grilled sea bass, tasty steak tartare, sides of French beans and peas. The Pear Tarte Tatin was a perfect finish to a perfectly enjoyable meal. They offer Polish vodka and very decent French Bordeaux and Burgundy by the glass. I will return again and again.

I can agree with the service comments, but the food I have had on every occasion at C K has been outstanding and top five french food in london. this place is a gem in my view where you can always get a table for 4 people on a friday night with none of the pretention of NH. it is perfect for both cozy dinner and lunch. the prices do sneak up on you but it is worth it.

Yesterday was the second time I have taken important business clients to this restaurant for lunch and the second time I have been completely let down by really slow service (last time we waited 35 minutes to be served one course which left us with 15 mins to wolf down the food). Also, the staff need be more polite and to monitor the floor rather than gossip at the bar with their backs to the tables. Food was average at best and yes, our team all eat regularly in France. Even though this place is 5 mins walk from our offices we won't be going back again. Overpriced, unfriendly and slow.

I agree with the below about the beetroot and cheese salad, the leaves chosen were like eating hair and were stuck in throat for a while after, vile. I cannot believe someone who actually presented that as a dish, I would have paid not to try and eat it. On a seperate occasion I ordered melted cheese and croutons I was presented with eel. Don't go here.

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend. We were very excited to eat here as it looked like a decent place both on reviews and when driving past. The ambience and decor where lovely only if the same could be said about the food.
It felt like we were in a car crash in slow motion as the starters arrived. My beetroot/goat cheese salad looked like something that would be served in McDonalds and thats giving it a complement. After waiting half an hour someone finally came and removed our plates. Then came the main course... I ordered the steak from the menu and my girlfriend ordered the black leg chicken.
Now to my knowledge black leg chicken must be cooked well yet still tender. Chez Kristofs version must mean their technique is to make it as dry as possible. The steak tasted awful it had no colour and was grey in texture. I really don't understand how this restaurant got good ratings it is horrifically over-priced and understaffed.

We came here for the first time on 4th Sept for a birthday dinner. It couldn't have been better. Excellent food and wine, fine service and a wonderful comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Simply perfect, sophisticated without being pretentious, well worth the trip to this part of town.

Great place to sample french cuisine. The ambiance/ environment set the place up (especially as the weather allowed alfresco dining even in September).
The food was very good, but the staff let the occasion down slightly on two counts: 1) it felt as though they were very eager to move us through the food experience; 2)and when asked a question about the wine, we were promised that they would find out some information from a colleague, only never to return!!
I would return.

Crossed London with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, having previously been very impressed with the food on a friend's hen night here. As before, the food was outstandingly good, if you like beef, the Cote de Boeuf for two is a must and when it is served this rare (however you ask !), it's just as well that the quality of the meat is so good. Sadly let down by the totally bumbling, if aimiable, service - which is not really on when you're paying #120 for two. The waitress made such a mess of the beef I almost offered to put her out of her misery and carve it myself ! Couples beware, we were lucky and got a table at an angle in the centre of the large room, but a row of 4 couples dining a deux were seated so close together it must have felt like a group night out, which I would hate.
Fantastic buzzy atmostphere and lots of gorgeous, glamourous people, smart decor, worth a detour for a special occasion, definitely.

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary - was warm outside so we were able to dine alfresco, which added to the atmosphere. The waiting staff were very attentive and the presentation of the food was impeccable. Enjoyed the starters and the desserts more than the mains but everything was done very well. Had a lovely evening.
